Logistics Lead

The logistics lead coordinates daily activities across the Shipping and Receiving departments to ensure materials, orders, documentation, and inventory transactions move accurately and on schedule. This role supports production and customer commitments by improving communication between teams, identifying and resolving operational issues, helping prioritize work, and ensuring that ERP transactions, shipping paperwork, receiving processes, and inventory controls are completed correctly. The lead will also be heavily involved and contribute to all DNI OS and work through collaboration and influence, providing guidance, removing barriers, and helping departments stay aligned to meet business goals and support timely revenue delivery.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Shipping Dept.

• Prioritize activities to meet freight collection cutoff times.
• Prepare proper shipping paperwork, test certs, and labels as required.
• Prepare paperwork for items that are transferred to finished goods, including converting units of measure.
• Audit Shipping Clerk activities and processes as needed.
• Audit and correct MRP transactions as needed.
• Plan for pickups and follow through.
• Prepare SLIs, Certs. of Origin, etc. for overseas shipments.
• Assist with physical inventory.
• Maintain filing system for shipping paperwork.
• Count/weigh items accurately and transact items in MRP as they are received into finished goods.
• In absence of the Shipping Manager, assume full responsibility for the position.
• Contribute to the creation of new SOPs and Packaging instructions.

Receiving Dept.

• Read and interpret bills of lading and purchase orders.
• Operation of computer programs to generate receiving tickets, and post receipt of requisitioned goods.
• In general, maintain clean, neat, and orderly organization of Warehouse.
• Know and follow handling procedures for precious metals and potentially hazardous/contaminated goods. Coordinate recycled materials with Inv. Control attendant.
• Assist with "cycle count" of specific Warehouse items with Inv. Control Attendant.
• Determine need for specific warehouse supplies and reorder as needed.
• In absence of Receiving Clerk, assume full responsibility for the receiving function for all purchased goods and file appropriate paperwork associated with the receiving function.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to navigate ERP/Inventory Control Software is preferred.
• Working Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, word, PP is a must.
• Ability to convert various units of measure.
• Must be able to work with small parts and work with tweezers.
• Must be able to work with weights scales and counting scales, or willing to train.
• Must have good written and oral communications skills.
• Must be neat and very detail oriented.
• Ability to use the ERP system to investigate order status and properly record transactions.
• Ability to use the ERP system to generate pick tickets and pack slips.
• Knowledge of UPS/FedEx type shipping systems and rate structures.
• Knowledge of documentation requirements for shipment within the U.S. as well as overseas.
• Ability to use a standardized scale process for weigh counting.
• Advanced knowledge of MRP system and data entry.
• Better than basic math skills required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to be able to communicate effectively with customers, carriers, and internal DNI personnel.
• Warehouse / Inventory Control experience a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret bills of lading and purchase orders.
• Degree in BA or Supply Chain preferred.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma(Preferred).
• College education experience (Preferred).
• Computer literate.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
• Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
