Entity/Organization Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) Job Details Hours Per Week: 36 Scheduled Work Hours/Shifts: Rotating (United States of America) Up to a $30k sign‑on bonus with a 3‑year service agreement for external candidates who have a minimum of 2‑years of relevant nursing experience. Unit Description Peds Heart Center is a 29‑bed unit – ranked #4 nationally by U.S. News & World Report and #1 in patient outcomes, in addition to being an AACN Beacon Award‑winning unit. It is the referral center for all major pediatric cardiac surgery in South Carolina. Average daily census on the unit is 28, with a blend of cardiac surgical and medical diagnoses. The Heart Center cares for patients with congenital and acute heart disease of any age based on care needs. Common procedures include cardiac surgery, ventricular assist devices, heart transplant, cardiac catheterization, and all medical diagnoses associated with cardiac care for children in South Carolina. In addition to ventilatory and cardiac support, the unit provides ECMO/CRRT and additional complex supportive therapies. Pediatric palliative care is available as needed. Staffing includes Registered Nurses, Patient Care Technicians, and Unit Secretaries; additional support from respiratory therapy, pediatric dietitians, and pediatric pharmacy is available as needed. All beds are monitored beds. Minimum Training and Education Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred. Registered nurses hired on or after July 1, 2013, with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing must be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date. Refer to policy A141 for more details. A minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse is required. Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA‑recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required. Physical and Mental Requirements Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, standing while walking, climbing stairs, working indoors, working outside in temperature extremes, from elevated areas, and in confined or cramped spaces; ability to work from kneeling positions, bend at the waist, twist at the waist, squat, pinching operations, gross motor activities with fingers and hands, firm grasping with fingers and hands, fine manipulation with fingers and hands, reach overhead, repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows/shoulders, use lower extremities for balance and coordination, reach in all directions, lift and carry 50 lbs. unassisted, and other specified forces. Ability to maintain vision, hearing, and sensory functions as required. Ability to work rotating shifts, overtime as required, and in a latex‑safe environment.
