Computational Geometry Engineer

Copia Search is working with a very exciting company in Southern California that is doing cutting-edge work within advanced manufacturing. They’re seeking a Senior-level Software Engineer with deep experience in computational geometry and GPU-accelerated geometry processing to lead development of automated geometry-processing pipelines for their proprietary platform. You will work on the core geometry-processing systems that sit between a customer's digital design and the physical manufacturing process. This is not primarily a role maintaining an existing graphics pipeline. They are looking for someone who wants to design algorithms, build new systems, and develop the engines that make the platform possible. You may work on problems involving: Complex 3D geometry manipulation and transformation Mesh processing and geometric algorithms Automated geometry preparation and repair Geometric deformation and optimization Spatial queries and acceleration structures Volumetric and implicit representations Slicing and path-generation algorithms Geometry-aware simulation and analysis High-performance processing of large and complex models GPU acceleration of computationally intensive geometry operations Complex 3D geometry manipulation and transformation You should have: BS in Computer Science or equivalent Significant professional experience developing software involving 3D geometry A deep understanding of geometry algorithms, representations, and data structures Experience designing, implementing, and optimizing geometry algorithms and production-quality geometry-processing systems Experience working with complex 3D representations such as meshes, surfaces, solids, volumes, or implicit geometry Experience optimizing computationally intensive workloads Experience with GPU computing, GPU acceleration, or other forms of high-performance parallel computing The ability to translate mathematical and algorithmic concepts into robust software A track record of taking technically difficult systems from concept through production We are particularly interested in engineers who have built geometry engines, processing frameworks, simulation systems, graphics infrastructure, CAD/geometry systems, or other foundational 3D technologies. Relevant backgrounds may include computational geometry, computer graphics, CAD/CAM, VFX and animation technology, simulation, scientific computing, robotics, game/rendering engines, or other advanced 3D software systems.
