Senior Manager, Data Center Infrastructure Management

The Sr. Manager, Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) leads a team of engineers responsible for the management and administration of the Electric Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) and Building Management Systems (BMS). This role requires a strategic thinker with keen planning skills and the ability to lead through influence. The ideal candidate will have a background in electrical and mechanical systems and possess knowledge of large scale data centers (or similar environments) with a strong process-driven orientation.RESPONSIBILITIES, other duties may be assigned.Schedules deployment resources to meet QTS-established schedulesInstitutes and ensures adherence to Quality Assurance (QA) policies and proceduresInstitutes and maintains Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the deployment of services according to QTS’s product catalog or industry best practicesEnsures that the DCIM Engineering team is trained on the most up-to-date versions of SOPs and job-specific requirements so that service enablement can be accomplished in an effective, timely, and cost-effective mannerMonitors and reviews the deployment of services, to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner, and to identify opportunities for improvementAnalyzes data, prepares reports, and makes recommendations for improving time to project completionInitiates and carries out projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costsTracks, analyzes and improves key parameters such as time to deploy, resource utilization, deployment cost, etc.Assists with the development of operational budgets and monitors actual expenses to ensure they fall within budgetsPerforms administrative tasks such as approving proposals, expenditures, enforcing policies and performance management of DCIM EngineersChampion the effort of change by training and supporting regional DCIM Engineers on BMS/EPMS applicationsProvide strategic leadership for the DCIM platform to implement enterprise BMS/EPMS standards at the site levelDevelop BMS/EPMS standards for system topology, graphics and functionality between multiple vendors and multiple sitesLead/direct vendors via Scope of Work and Requests for Proposals/information documents.Implement corporate policies, procedures, and standards to maximize the performance of systems, applications and networksBASIC QUALIFICATIONSBS in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or other related Engineering degrees or equivalent professional experienceTen or more years of progressive experience with critical monitoring/control systems and support for critical facilitiesThree or more years of management/supervisory experience leading engineering or critical operations teamsProficient knowledge and experience with BMS and building EPMS systemsFamiliarity with power distribution systems in a data center environment or similar critical systems environmentUS Citizenship for this position is required by law due to federal customer contracts.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSPrior experiencing working in a data center environmentFamiliarity with Aveva WonderWareKnowledge of BAS/BMS systems, ALC, Andover, Tridium, Delta Controls or othersUnderstanding of network implementationFive or more years of experience with various Industrial Control Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) such as Allen Bradley, Schneider Siemens, etc.Experience performing commissioning, qualification & change control activities related to BMS including but not limited to HVAC, chiller plants, domestic and process water systems, building automation systems, etc.Ability to read, interpret, and produce engineering documents that may include: Control Drawings, Sequence of Operations, Bill of Materials, Graphical User, Interface requirements, and Functional SpecificationsUnderstanding of basic power calculations on single and 3-phase circuits, electrical diagrams, control diagramsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESProven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining schedule and scopeExcellent client-facing and internal communication skillsSolid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skillsSelf-starter and quick learner who understands and can adapt to existing software application and computing infrastructuresIn accordance with applicable law, the following represents a reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation for this role if hired in Illinois.
