Medical Officer of the Day (MOD) Physician – VA Medical Center | $225/Hour | Battle Creek, MI
Our healthcare staffing division is seeking experienced Board Certified or Board Eligible Internal Medicine or Family Medicine Physicians for a long-term contract opportunity supporting Veterans at the Battle Creek VA Medical Center in Battle Creek, Michigan.
About the RoleWe are seeking physicians to provide care to Veterans at the Battle Creek VA Medical Center .
Medical Officer of the Day (MOD) Physicians provide after-hours onsite coverage for the Community Living Center and urgent/inpatient medical needs. The MOD physician is responsible for admissions, consults, emergency response, clinical stabilization, and required bedside procedures during evenings, overnight shifts, weekends, and federal holidays.

- Location: 5500 Armstrong Road, Battle Creek, MI
- Pay: $225/hour
- Start Date: December 14, 2026
- Contract End Date: December 13, 2027
- Openings: 5
- Employment Type: Full-time contract
- Schedule Commitment: Minimum of approximately 80 hours every two weeks
- Monday–Thursday: 4:30 PM–8:00 AM
- Weekend coverage: 4:30 PM Friday–8:00 AM Monday
- Federal holiday coverage may include continuous onsite coverage
- Physicians must remain onsite for the full assigned shift
- Provide after-hours physician coverage throughout the medical center
- Evaluate and manage urgent and emergent medical conditions
- Handle admissions and physician consults
- Provide medical coverage for the Community Living Center
- Respond to changes in patient condition and medical emergencies
- Stabilize patients and determine the appropriate level of care
- Coordinate with nursing, specialty services, and emergency-response teams
- Complete timely and accurate medical documentation
- MD or DO
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
- Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia
- No history of license restriction, suspension, revocation, surrender, or denial
- Current DEA registration, Schedule II–V , issued in the physician's name
- Active NPI
- Current ACLS and BLS
- Inpatient and outpatient clinical experience
- Clear HHS OIG exclusion screening
- Verifiable education and training history
Candidates must be comfortable performing procedures including:
- Thoracentesis
- Paracentesis
- Lumbar puncture
- Incision and drainage
- NG tube placement
- Foley catheter placement
- Joint aspiration/injection
- ACLS and emergency procedures
This is a strong opportunity for an experienced physician seeking a well-compensated, year-long federal healthcare contract with meaningful clinical responsibility while providing care to Veterans.
Compensation: $225/hour
