Job Family: Electrical Products Req ID: 501477 Position Title: Procurement Engineer Location: Peachtree Corners, GA (Hybrid) Siemens is looking for a Procurement Engineer located in Peachtree Corners, GA. The role focuses on early procurement and supplier involvement in product development and manufacturing, monitoring current products to minimize overall costs. The engineer will act as a key interface between procurement and engineering to ensure the latest technical innovations from the supply base are presented to engineers. Additionally, the role collaborates in R&D and interfaces with Commodity Managers on should‑cost models, driving cost reduction during design and keeping Siemens at the cutting edge of supply‑chain technologies. You will make an impact with the following responsibilities: Early Procurement Involvement: Engage in preliminary development, actively participate in the product development and manufacturing process, and push forward cost‑reduction measures such as design to cost, target costing, and standardization to achieve target material costs. Early Supplier Integration: Include suppliers and conduct cost‑benefit analysis workshops, innovation workshops, and concept competitions with key suppliers to focus on the component’s key functions and optimize material cost through design‑to‑cost. Analysis: Initiate market observation, conduct and provide market information and analyses on international technology and price trends to secure new suppliers and technologies. Alignment of Technology Roadmaps: Introduce and follow up on cross‑functional procurement strategies to link commodity strategies with technological market trends. Strategy Alignment: Support business line activities to harmonize and implement technological and procurement strategies, support core/non‑core initiatives, and participate in sourcing strategy development with the commodity team. Strategy Deployment: Drive sourcing decisions with interface partners, incorporating technological know‑how and safeguarding security strategies, and develop cross‑functional sourcing concepts. Business Support: Provide support for projects in business lines, contributing quotes, workshops, scope of material assessments (BoM), and realizing savings potential. Supplier Management: Evaluate and develop suppliers from a technological standpoint, concentrating on the best suppliers. Knowledge Management: Participate in workgroups and projects to stay informed and influence early‑stage decisions. Risk Mitigation: Apply preventive methods for risk minimization, design and maintain requirements, specifications, and concepts based on supplier categorization. Supplier Integration: Coordinate product/service qualifications and approvals based on specific requirements and specifications (Ready to Order). Your qualifications: Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering. 5+ years of procurement and supply‑chain management experience including R&D, manufacturing, procurement, finance, and supplier interfacing. 3+ years of industry experience within a mechanical, electrical, or electronic component manufacturing business. Ability to travel up to 20%. Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. Preferred Qualifications: BS in Electrical Engineering. Master's degree. Project management knowledge and execution leadership experience. Professional certifications such as Supply Chain Management or Project Management. Strong communication, listening, networking, and negotiation skills. Excellent analytical skills and judgment in assessing risks and control deficiencies, with confidence in suggesting practical alternatives. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
