In this role, you will design and code scalable solutions, influence architecture, and provide guidance through technical excellence - not people management. You will work on Guidewire ClaimCenter and its surrounding middleware (Java/SpringBoot, AWS SQS/SNS, AWS Lambdas, AWS PostgreSQL, etc…).Position Responsibilities:Design robust, high-performance solutions across systems and servicesServe as a key technical contributor on critical projects or initiatives within the property & casualty insurance claim domainAct as a resource for others by sharing deep technical knowledge and context - without formal leadership or management dutiesEvaluate and advocate for improvements in system architecture, technical standards, and development processesCollaborate with stakeholders across engineering and product to align technical implementation with business needsCreate proof of concepts to demonstrate capabilitiesEnforce standard coding and security best practicesWork within SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework)Position Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferredGuidewire ClaimCenter experience is requiredMinimum of 8 years of developer experience with at least 2 years in a senior or lead capacity.Expert-level understanding of the full SDLCAbility to identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies in the software development lifecycle and propose improvementsDeep familiarity with wide range of software design patterns and architectural principles, applying them to design scalable and maintainable systemsKnowledge of auto insurance; commercial & personal auto lines a bonusExpertise with most of the following:Standard design patternsCI/CD, Containerization and OrchestrationUnit testing and integration testingVersion control systems (e.g. Git)RESTful APIs and microservicesAI Prompt/Agentic EngineeringMonitoring and logging via tools like AppDynamics and SplunkLanguages such as Java, Gosu, Kotlin, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, TypeScriptSpring Boot and container orchestration (EKS/ECS)SQL and secure coding practicesCloud-native architecture and AWS servicesBuild tools & dependency management using Maven or GradleFrameworks such as Angular, React, VueResponsive Design and Progressive Web AppsBuild tools & packaging managers such as Webpack/NPMGuidewire InsuranceSuite (ClaimCenter, PolicyCenter, BillingCenter)Guidewire InsuranceSuite’s PCF, message queues, business rulesScreen design using Guidewire InsuranceSuite’s PCFGuidewire InsuranceSuite’s database modelGuidewire InsuranceSuite’s assignment rulesIntegrations with internal systems and vendors using Guidewire InsuranceSuite’s REST APIs, messaging queues, and batchesTroubleshooting and resolving InsuranceSuite issuesGuidewire Profiler to analyze performance issuesGuidewire Cloud InsuranceSuite Professional Developer certification is preferred but not requiredThis position works in the Kemper office.Kemper is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
