Payroll Assistant

Large manufacturing company in Richburg SC is in need of a Payroll Assistant. The Payroll Clerk provides administrative and operational support for the payroll and timekeeping functions for employees at the company. This position reviews timekeeping records, assists with bi-weekly payroll preparation, researches discrepancies, maintains payroll documentation, and prepares reports. The Payroll Clerk works closely with Payroll, Human Resources, Accounting, employees, and management to ensure payroll and timekeeping information is accurate and submitted on time.

This is a contract to hire position paying $21-23/hr. in Richburg SC. This position is an immediate start opportunity.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Review and verify daily time punches and identify missing, incorrect, or incomplete timekeeping information.
• Coordinate with employees and managers to resolve timekeeping discrepancies.
• Assist with bi-weekly payroll preparation by reviewing payroll and timekeeping data for accuracy and completeness.
• Assist employees and managers with routine payroll, attendance, timekeeping, and pay-related questions.
• Assist with payroll reconciliations, audits, and supporting documentation.
• Prepare and maintain reports related to overtime, vacation, holiday pay, incentives, attendance, and hours worked.
• Use Microsoft Excel to organize, reconcile, and analyze payroll and timekeeping data.
• Maintain accurate payroll, employee, and personnel records while ensuring confidentiality.
• Perform general administrative duties, including data entry, filing, reporting, scanning, and document preparation.
• Follow established payroll procedures, company policies, and processing deadlines.
• Work with Payroll, Human Resources, Accounting, employees, and management to obtain or correct payroll-related information.
• Support continuous improvement of payroll, timekeeping, and administrative processes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

• Associate degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• Equivalent education and relevant payroll, accounting, HR, or administrative experience may be considered.
• Previous payroll, timekeeping, accounting, or HR administrative experience preferred.
• Manufacturing payroll experience is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with ADP payroll and/or timekeeping systems is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas and PivotTables, with the ability to analyze, organize, and interpret payroll and timekeeping data.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to meet payroll deadlines.
• Effective written, verbal, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
