Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 16 weeks Shift: Day and Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years required License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required Must-Have: Current acute care experience in related specialty Description: The role involves providing care for patients with various solid tumor cancers. Responsibilities include monitoring and managing patient conditions through telemetry. Staffing ratios aim for 1:4 but can vary to 1:5 depending on unit needs. Flexible weekend shifts may be required. Floating to other medical-surgical oncology units is expected. Infection prevention and fall prevention protocols are a focus in this setting. Experience with computerized charting is essential, specifically using Epic. Candidates should have skills in administering chemotherapy and managing vascular access devices. Patients cared for typically include adults and geriatrics with cancer diagnoses. This position may involve caring for patients in various stages of their cancer journey. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. Candidates must meet specific acute care experience requirements prior to application. All applicants must have professional references, including a supervisory reference. Travel experience is preferred but not mandatory. Compliance with credentialing and fingerprinting processes is required.
