Job Title: Registered Nurse - FBC/L&D Profession: Nursing Specialty: Women's Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 1900-0730 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years current experience required License: State Nursing License or Compact State Nursing License Certifications: BLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate or advanced fetal monitoring certifications Must-Have: - Labor assessment - Fetal evaluations - Stabilization of patients - Medication administration - Use of obstetric triage acuity tools Description: Floating between departments and local locations within 20 miles is required. Assess all triage patients over 20 weeks. Utilize obstetric triage acuity tools. Perform labor assessment and evaluation. Conduct fetal evaluation and assessment. Evaluate for labor at term, signs of preterm labor, signs and symptoms of preeclampsia, rupture of membranes, decreased fetal movement, preterm premature rupture of membranes, vaginal bleeding, and acute and critical conditions. If an emergency medical condition is determined to exist, stabilize the patient for delivery or prepare for transfer to a higher level of care if needed. Provide labor assessment, evaluation, and care. Prepare expectant mothers for safe delivery. Administer medications as needed. Stabilize newborns immediately after delivery. Administer medications to newborns. Prepare for scheduled or emergency cesarean delivery. Assess and care for postpartum and newborn patients. Perform newborn care activities, including hearing screens, assisting with laboratory draws, IV starts, medication administration, and circumcision assistance. Care for newborns experiencing opiate withdrawal. Stabilize critically ill newborns for transport and provide phototherapy and hypoglycemia care. EPIC experience is preferred; training will be provided on-site.
