Prep Cook

We are seeking an adaptable, high-energy, and organized Catering Prep Cook to join our dynamic culinary team. You will prepare ingredients and dishes in our commissary kitchen, securely pack food and equipment for transport, and assist with final assembly, plating, and service at diverse event venues.


Job Title: Catering Prep Cook
Employment Type: Part-time/ Event-based, mostly daytime hours
Pay Range: starting at $25.00 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Schedule: Variable hours; possible weekends, evenings, and holidays based on the event calendar.




Core Responsibilities

• High-Volume Prep: Wash, chop, portion, and marinate ingredients in large batches for buffets, stations, and plated events.
• Batch Cooking: Assist with large-scale cooking tasks like roasting meats, simmering sauces, and baking appetizers.
• Transport Packing: Securely pack, label, and organize food pans, specialized equipment, and utensils into transport hot boxes or coolers.
• Venue Setup: Load and unload catering vehicles. Assemble mobile prep stations, buffet lines, or carving stations at event venues.
• Event Execution: Maintain speed and precision during high-pressure event service. Plate dishes uniformly or manage live action stations.
• Breakdown & Cleanup: Clean and sanitize mobile kitchen areas at the venue. Repack equipment and ensure the commissary kitchen is reset upon return.

Qualifications & Skills

• Previous experience in catering, banquets, or high-volume food production preferred.
• Strong adaptability to work efficiently in varying venue environments and mobile setups.
• Basic knife skills and familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment.
• Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly during loading.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record is a major plus.
• ServSafe Certification or local food handler card required.

Salary/Compensation: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
