Lead Shipping Technician

Dura-Line is hiring for a Shipping Technician in Elyria, Ohio

About the Role: This role oversees daily shipping activities, including coordinating drivers, deliveries, pickups, and outbound shipments. This role supports inventory accuracy through cycle counts and inventory control processes. The position may also provide day-to-day work direction and assist with issue resolution in the absence of the shipping supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate outbound loads with drivers, carries, and internal teams to ensure timely pickups, deliveries, and efficient load planning.

• Serve as the primary point of contact for drivers regarding shipment schedules, dock assignments documentation, and loading instructions.

• Prioritize and assign daily work activities for Shipping Technicians to meet customer and production requirements.

• Verify shipping documentation, bills of lading, packing lists, and system transactions for accuracy and compliance.

• Monitor shipment schedules and proactively address delays, discrepancies, or transportation issues.

• Train, mentor, and provide guidance to Shipping Technicians on processes, safety standards, and best practices.

• Support inventory accuracy through cycle counts, reconciliation activities, and proper inventory movement transactions.

• Monitor warehouse and shipping performance metrics and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

• Assist with troubleshooting shipping and logistics issues while helping implement corrective actions.

• Support shipping supervisor with administrative duties, staffing coverage, and escalation of operational concerns.

Requirements :

• Must be currently employed by Dura-Line in the Elyria, Ohio Shipping Department.

• At least 5 years of forklift experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, shipping, or distribution environment.

• Experience with indirectly influencing peers and other personnel from other departments to accomplish tasks.

• Basic computer skills and experience with MRP/ERP systems.

• Knowledge of warehouse systems, including shipping and receiving, FIFO, cycle counting, and inventory control.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

• Work is performed in plant, warehouse, forklift, and office environments.

• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

• May be exposed to weather and noise.

• Personal protective equipment is required.

Our Offer:
The compensation for this position is typically start at $27.00/Hour.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. The compensation package may also include short and long-term incentive compensation.
