Job Posting: Staff Scientist, Laboratory of Immunogenetics Antibody Biology Unit The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), conducts a global program of research to better understand, treat, and ultimately prevent infectious, immunologic, and allergic diseases. The Antibody Biology Unit (ABU) in the Laboratory of Immunogenetics seeks a staff scientist to join the team. Research at the ABU focuses on the discovery of human monoclonal antibodies to combat infectious and autoimmune disease through cutting‑edge technology to study B cells at the single‑cell level. These antibodies will be evaluated for the ability to prevent or treat disease in pre‑clinical models and pursued through clinical trial evaluation of selected candidates. They will also guide immunogen design by delineating the target epitopes of the most potent antibodies. Duties This staff scientist will support overall research operations of the ABU, performing experiments to screen B cells, isolate monoclonal antibodies, test antibody binding affinity, epitope specificity, and potency, and analyze large datasets of antibody sequences. The successful candidate will train postdoctoral fellows and other staff in complex laboratory techniques involved in antibody discovery and characterization. The scientist will also ensure smooth laboratory operations and collaborate with intramural and extramural partners. Candidate experience should include extensive antibody discovery and characterization, generation and analysis of next‑generation sequencing paired heavy‑ and light‑chain datasets, and molecular, biophysical (e.g., SPR, BLI), and functional assays to characterize monoclonal antibodies.
