In this position...
Our team is part of the incredible transformation underway at Ford Motor Company and youll have a chance to be a part of that movement. We are seeking an investigator with a passion for safety employee relations and conducting robust investigations in a dynamic environment who appreciates the important role employee relations professionals play in supporting our values and culture and will carry out duties with the highest integrity.

This role requires the investigator to be in the plant at least four days per week for various shifts. Travel outside of Michigan may occasionally be required to assist other facilities across the United States.

What youll do...

• Investigate threat and assault allegations within manufacturing and parts distribution. Additionally this position may be required to investigate other workplace issues raised through internal Company channels and some externally filed complaints including complaints of employment discrimination harassment retaliation and other violations of Company policy
• Exhibit sound judgment in recommending outcomes for investigations
• Analyze behavior to identify concerning and potentially escalating situations
• Partner with Human Resources Labor Relations and the Security team to ensure proper handling and disposition of these cases involving union represented and salaried employees
• Work with various Company functions operating committee members the Office of the General Counsel and outside counsel on related issues
• Prepare track and maintain appropriate investigation documentation
• Develop and implement investigation plans
• Drive timely closure of open cases/concerns
• Manage employee data and statements in a highly confidential manner
• Draft concise and clear investigation reports
• Partner cross functionally on investigations discipline performance management and other aspects of employee relations
• Serve as a strategic partner promoting ethical compliant and safe behavior that is aligned with company policy and government regulations with fair and equal treatment for the workforce
• Support grievance arbitration and litigation process from an investigations standpoint
• Analyze case activity and determine trends/recommendations for proactive actions
• Foster an effective inclusive work environment/culture and relationships balancing employee advocacy with stewardship of company goals and values

Youll have...

• Bachelors degree
• 3 years of investigative experience corporate security human resources investigations or law enforcement
• Strong objective interviewing crisis de-escalation emotional intelligence threat assessment meticulous report-writing and documentation.

Even better you may have...

• Prior experience in a manufacturing and/or complex multi facility environment with a unionized workforce
• Prior experience specifically conducting threat and assault investigations
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced and matrixed work environment
• Masters degree in related field
• Certification or training in behavioral threat assessment/investigations
• Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate leadership behaviors and integrity combined with outstanding interpersonal teambuilding and oral /written communication skills
• Involves occasional (defined as one-third or less of the time) lifting of no more than 10 pounds at a time. Work is performed primarily in a seated position and entails no significant stooping standing climbing walking etc. Many sedentary jobs require good use of the hands and fingers for repetitive hand-finger actions. Working conditions occur within low to moderate noise levels related to the use of standard office or classroom equipment.

This position is a salary grade 8 and ranges from $99100-$166200.

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidates skills and experience and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope responsibility and competitive market value.
