Job Description: Assistant/Associate Director, Student Support and development TheOffice of Student Diversity and Multicultural Affairs (SDMA) seeksto create a sense of belonging, community, and safe space forstudents to engage in cross-cultural experiences and expand theirworldviews. The office establishes meaningful relationships withstudent organizations, faculty, and staff. It offers programs andservices that promote and foster an inclusive living and learningcommunity. Students will obtain a greater understanding andappreciation of diversity, multiculturalism, and socialjustice Position Description : The Assistant or Associate Director ofStudent Support and Development plays a key role in advancingFairfield University’s Jesuit mission by designing and leadinginitiatives that support the academic success, holistic well-being,and leadership development of students. Reporting to the Directorof Student Diversity and Multicultural Affairs, the Assistant orAssociate Director provides strategic oversight of high-impactprograms that promote access, retention and social justice–orientedleadership, while contributing to strategic planning and long-termgoals of the office Essential Functions:

  • Student support and development
  • Program oversight
  • Event coordination, implementation and assessment
  • Marketing & Outreach
  • Supervision Student Support and Development
Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a resource and advocate for students.
  • Develop and implement workshops, programs, and initiatives thatpromote leadership, resilience, and intercultural competence.
  • Monitor and support retention efforts for students throughtailored programs and services.
  • Work closely with the transition coordinator, the AcademicSupport graduate assistant and campus partners to support studentsholistically as they navigate Fairfield.
  • Provide ongoing supervision to the Academic Support gradassistant.
Program Oversight Cura Personalis Mentoring Program(CPMP) An early-intervention initiative supporting first- and second-yearstudents through personalized mentoring to promote academicsuccess, well-being, and student retention. Key Responsibilities Oversee program design, mentor recruitment, training, studentmatching, and assessment. Lucy Katz Fellowship A fellowship program designed to cultivate healthy and authenticconnections on campus by fostering dialogue andrelationship-building. Key Responsibilities In collaboration with the Senior Director of DiversityInitiatives, oversee the Lucy Katz Fellowship. Manage program design, fellow selection processes, leadershipdevelopment, and training. Establish programs and services aligned with the mission of theoffice that promote a sense of belonging and the success ofunderrepresented student populations. Event Coordination Key Responsibilities Coordinate monthly gatherings for Students of Colorgroups. Marketing and Outreach Key Responsibilities Develop and execute marketing strategies to promote the officeand its programs. Represent the office on committees and working groups asassigned. Qualifications Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, SocialWork, or a related field. Minimum of five years of experience working with collegestudents, including those from underrepresented backgrounds oridentities. Strong commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and socialjustice. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communicationskills. Experience overseeing mentoring, fellowship, or cohort-basedprograms. Other Duties Perform other duties as assigned.
