Job Overview

The Payment Systems Assistant Manager provides responsible and consistent service to the Payment Systems Department, ensuring the credit union's Card Services, Payment Operations, Digital Banking, Payment, and Cash Management programs operate efficiently and continue to evolve through technology and innovation. This position supports operational excellence, product implementation, fraud monitoring, regulatory compliance, and member service initiatives while serving as a resource for staff and members.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

• Acts as a resource for staff related to Card Services, Payment Operations, Digital Banking, and Payment and Cash Management products and services.
• Supports and manages payment system services including Banno Online/Mobile Banking, ACH Origination, Bill Pay, P2P payments, Mobile Deposit, Business Remote Deposit Capture, FedNow/RTP, Positive Pay, and debit, ATM, and credit card programs.
• Sets up members on payment system products and assists with employee training.
• Manages wire transfer agreements and wire requests in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Reviews payment system activity for fraud indicators and escalates findings to appropriate teams.
• Performs daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliation of general ledger and checking accounts associated with payment systems operations.
• Maintains advanced knowledge of payment system processes, applicable laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
• Recommends and supports implementation of technologies that enhance payment services and member experience.
• Provides project support including research, testing, installation, troubleshooting, and implementation of products and services.
• Collaborates with Information Technology and external vendors to resolve system issues and improve operational effectiveness.
• Cross-trains and provides backup support for payment systems processing functions.
• Maintains compliance with all applicable regulations, policies, procedures, and standards.
• Works on special projects and assignments as directed by the Payment Systems Manager.
• Required ARC Language:

• Follows processes and procedures established to ensure compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Combating the Financing of Terrorism (CFT).Completes required annual BSA/AML/CFT training to understand responsibilities related to:

• CIP (Customer Identification Program)
• CDD (Customer Due Diligence)
• Prohibited Account Types
• SARs (Suspicious Activity Report)
• OFAC (Office of Foreign Assets Control)

QUALIFICATIONS and COMPETENCIES

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

Required

• Must be at least 18 years of age.

• Associate’s degree or an equivalent level of knowledge, skills, and abilities typically acquired through work experience.
• Will be required to obtain and/or maintain one or more certifications in areas of specialization (AAP, NCP, APRP, FPP).
• Pass the pre-employment credit and background screening.

Recommended

• Minimum 5 years of financial institution work experience.

Physical Job Requirements

Frequent periods are spent standing or sitting in the same location with some opportunity to move about; occasionally there may be a need to stoop or lift light objects (typically less than 8 pounds).
