Job Summary: The Host/Hostess role is very critical. They are the first and the last person that the guest will encounter and set a tone for the rest of their dining experience. The host’s role is like a Concierge. They may be called upon to give directions, suggestions for movies, shopping malls in the area, and more. Duties/Responsibilities: Greet incoming guests when they enter and exit the restaurant and acknowledge each guest by name. Take reservations. Seat guests. Assist servers. Serve food (if required). Regularly check cleanliness of restrooms. Observe and report any potential issues in the bar, parking lot, and restaurant area to management. Assist customers with any difficulties or escalating problems to management. Additional duties as assigned. Required Skills/Abilities: The ideal candidate for this position must be extremely friendly, outgoing, and organized. Positive attitude and interpersonal skills. Good communication skills and phone etiquette. Flexibility when working alternating shifts. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills including dealing with difficult and rude patrons. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Familiarity with local areas with the ability to provide directions and maps to local attractions and destinations. Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED preferred. Prior Hosting Experience preferred. Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods standing and walking and frequently pulling, pushing, and bending. Must be able to lift fifty pounds at a time. Requires standing for extended periods of time. Ability to traverse all parts of the restaurant quickly.
