Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to work as part of the team in our corporate office in Phoenix. This is a hybrid position with in‑office and remote working days. This role reports to the Accounting Manager and will be responsible for daily accounting activities supporting the financial obligations of the organization. The Senior Accountant needs knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) to analyze financial data, prepare standard journal entries, maintain fixed assets, reconcile complex accounts, and prepare financial reports for management. This role requires precision, analytical thinking, and the ability to collaborate across teams to ensure accurate financial reporting. Responsibilities Compile and analyze financial information Record journal entries and reconcile balance sheet activity, ensuring accuracy and completeness with adequate supporting documentation Review revenue/expense entries, invoices, and other accounting documents Perform monthly bank and account reconciliations, research and resolve discrepancies as necessary Maintain fixed asset system, including posting monthly journal entries to record all depreciation, amortization, additions and disposals Prepare and monitor monthly accruals and adjust as needed Support external audits and tax preparation, including providing schedules and documentation Record and reconcile debt service payments and escrow schedules Identify opportunities and areas for improvement and/or implement procedures, processes, or tools that improve efficiency and productivity Collaborate with property managers and operational teams to ensure accurate financial reporting Participate in special ad‑hoc projects and process improvement initiatives as needed Qualifications Highly proficient in all Microsoft Office applications; advanced Excel skills preferred Proficiency in Accounting ERP software (NetSuite, Yardi, MRI etc.) NetSuite experience strongly preferred Excellent analytical and oral/written communication skills Knowledge of the best practices in accounting Capacity to multitask and accomplish goals by utilizing resources effectively and efficiently Open to change and enjoys the challenge of unfamiliar tasks Maintains a positive attitude that supports team performance and productivity Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance 3–5+ years of accounting experience, ideally in real estate Strong computer skills and proficiency with all MS Office applications Advanced quantitative and spreadsheet skills Experience with real estate ERP, preferably NetSuite Benefits Comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance with multiple plans so you can choose the coverage that best suits the needs of you and your family Financial Wellness & Savings: Health Savings Account (HSA), Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) and other options to help manage expenses with eligible plans Retirement savings program with a company match Competitive time off, including ten holidays, vacation, sick time, and more Work‑Life Balance Support: Employee Assistance Program (EAP), LifeBalance discounts, and other wellness resources Professional development resources and opportunities, including tuition reimbursement for qualifying programs Inspire Communities is an equal opportunity employer.
