HVAC Selling Technician

Job Overview:
Search Solution Group is seeking an HVAC Selling Technician on behalf of our client, an HVAC company specializing in air conditioning installation, repair, and maintenance. This dual-role position is essential to the organization, combining technical HVAC expertise with consultative sales skills. The HVAC Selling Technician ensures high-quality service delivery while driving revenue growth through equipment upgrades, service agreements, and system replacement opportunities.

Key Responsibilities: Technical Service & Maintenance:
  • Service, maintain, and repair HVAC systems according to manufacturer specifications and local codes.
  • Conduct comprehensive diagnostics to identify issues, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
  • Perform preventative maintenance to ensure system longevity, efficiency, and compliance with warranties.
  • Test HVAC systems for proper operation, energy efficiency, and code compliance.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed service records including system conditions, parts used, and recommendations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized workspace while following all safety guidelines and company protocols.
Sales & Business Development:
  • Identify and pursue sales opportunities during service visits, including equipment upgrades and replacements.
  • Present and sell service agreements, maintenance contracts, and protection plans.
  • Educate customers on energy efficiency, indoor air quality solutions, and modern HVAC technology benefits.
  • Prepare and present detailed proposals for system replacements, upgrades, and add-on products.
  • Close sales using consultative sales methodology and value-based selling.
  • Generate qualified leads for the sales team when projects exceed technician scope.
  • Meet or exceed sales performance targets for service agreements, equipment sales, and accessories.
  • Use CRM software to document customer interactions, log opportunities, and track proposals.
Customer Relations & Support:
  • Build strong customer relationships through professionalism, technical expertise, and clear communication.
  • Explain system conditions, repair recommendations, pricing, and timelines in a customer-friendly manner.
  • Provide guidance on system operation, maintenance, and best practices for maximizing efficiency and lifespan.
  • Address customer concerns promptly and professionally to ensure positive service experiences.
  • Represent the company with integrity and uphold brand values in all customer interactions.
Team Collaboration & Development:
  • Coordinate with technicians, service teams, and sales personnel on scheduling and project support.
  • Mentor and assist junior technicians in technical and selling skills.
  • Stay current with industry trends, HVAC technologies, energy-efficiency standards, and sales strategies.
  • Participate in meetings, training sessions, and company events to support alignment and continuous improvement.
Requirements Include: Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical HVAC training preferred.
Experience:
  • Experience in HVAC repair, service, and installation.
  • Proven experience in consultative sales or customer-facing technical roles.
Skills:
  • Advanced HVAC troubleshooting, repair, installation, and maintenance skills.
  • Strong consultative selling ability, including needs assessment, objection handling, and closing.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems, digital tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organization and time-management skills.
Certifications:
  • EPA certification required.
  • Additional HVAC licenses as required by state/local regulations.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Knowledge:
  • Comprehensive understanding of HVAC system design, installation standards, maintenance practices, and energy efficiency principles.
  • Knowledge of modern HVAC technologies and indoor air quality solutions.
