A Day in the Life

The Braiding and Extrusion Center of Excellence Strategy Leader is part of the Manufacturing Technology and Engineering organization, supporting enterprise-wide advancement of braiding and extrusion manufacturing capabilities across Medtronic. The team partners with Operating Units, Research and Development, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and manufacturing sites to develop manufacturing strategies, establish technology standards, and accelerate adoption of new production capabilities that support current and future product portfolios.

This position is based onsite at the Medtronic facility in Danvers, Massachusetts, with an expectation of working onsite four days per week. Up to 25% travel is required to support collaboration with manufacturing sites, technology partners, suppliers, and cross-functional stakeholders.

The Braiding and Extrusion Center of Excellence Strategy Leader is responsible for defining and executing enterprise manufacturing technology strategies for braiding and extrusion processes. This role leads cross-functional collaboration to develop technology roadmaps, establish manufacturing standards, evaluate emerging technologies, and drive deployment of new capabilities that improve manufacturing performance, scalability, and product quality.

Primary Responsibilities

• Lead the Braiding and Extrusion Center of Excellence, including enterprise strategy, capability development, and technology roadmap planning.
• Define and maintain manufacturing strategies for braiding and extrusion technologies to support network capacity, site capabilities, and future growth objectives.
• Establish enterprise standards for equipment, tooling, materials, automation, process controls, and quality systems.
• Partner with Operating Units, Research and Development, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to align technology investments with business and product needs.
• Provide technical leadership to manufacturing sites through process optimization, yield improvement, defect reduction, equipment enhancement, and capability expansion initiatives.
• Identify, assess, and prioritize emerging braiding and extrusion technologies through collaboration with suppliers, academic institutions, and industry partners.
• Drive feasibility assessments, proof-of-concept activities, and industrialization efforts that accelerate manufacturing technology readiness and deployment.
• Ensure manufacturing technologies, standards, and processes support regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and scalable production.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of manufacturing, engineering, or advanced manufacturing experience OR advanced degree with 8+ years of manufacturing, engineering, or advanced manufacturing experience.
• Experience with braiding technologies, extrusion technologies, or both in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience developing and deploying manufacturing processes, equipment, or production technologies.
• Experience leading cross-functional initiatives involving engineering, manufacturing, quality, and operational stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous Medtronic experience.
• Experience with wire or polymer braiding, braid angle optimization, tension control, pick count optimization, or textile structure development.
• Experience with single-lumen, multi-lumen, multi-layer, reinforced, or specialty polymer extrusion technologies.
• Experience defining long-range manufacturing technology roadmaps and deploying new technologies into production environments.
• Experience supporting global organizations and influencing stakeholders without direct authority.

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$152,800.00 - $229,200.00This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
