SAP Analyst (contract)

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented professional to support project reconciliation, quality review, and financial closeout activities across a large operational portfolio. This role is heavily focused on SAP-based project analysis, cost variance investigation, and compliance-driven project closure processes. The ideal candidate will bring a strong analytical mindset and the ability to work cross-functionally with product and operational teams to ensure projects are accurately reconciled and compliant with internal controls and SOX requirements. Success in this role requires the ability to hit the ground running in a fast-paced environment, a deep comfort navigating SAP workflows, and a commitment to process adherence and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities Review and reconcile legacy and active projects to ensure accurate project closeout Analyze project actual costs versus planned costs and identify and explain variances Partner with product and operational teams to gather supporting details for cost discrepancies and project variances Validate capital material installations and confirm alignment with associated work orders Review quality assurance and quality control activities for projects previously closed by other teams Ensure all projects follow defined SAP closeout and documentation processes Support project closeout activities across all operational regions Maintain compliance with SOX policies and internal audit requirements Utilize a broad range of SAP transaction codes to perform material movement reviews, actuals analysis, and project reconciliation Prepare reports, documentation, and summaries to support project closeout and stakeholder communication Skills Hands-on SAP experience with strong familiarity with transaction codes and project and accounting workflows Experience reviewing material movements, actuals, and work orders in SAP Proven ability to independently manage project reconciliation and closeout activities with minimal oversight Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly around project cost variance analysis Experience working within structured or regulated environments Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills Ability to clearly explain financial and operational variances to stakeholders Deep attention to detail and commitment to process adherence Knowledge of SOX compliance requirements and audit controls preferred Prior experience supporting utility or infrastructure-related capital projects preferred Experience within regulated industries such as utilities, banking, healthcare, or insurance preferred Qualifications Regulated utilities industry experience strongly preferred SOX compliance knowledge and familiarity with internal audit control frameworks preferred This is an exciting opportunity to play a critical role in ensuring financial accuracy and regulatory compliance across a large and dynamic operational portfolio.
