Job Title

Incumbent will be a member of the Medical Service and will participate in patient care, teaching and administrative activities as assigned.

The incumbent will function as an independent physician provider, and they will provide medical care in the spectrum of their field of training and privileging and in all aspects of patient care including inpatient/outpatient care.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Continue and further the development of the clinical programs.
• Provide evaluation and treatment for patients seen in the outpatient clinic, specialty procedural clinics, and inpatient services as assigned.
• Attend in the outpatient clinic, specialty procedure clinic, and on the inpatient service as assigned, and other clinical services needed by the Service.
• Supervise and teach medical students, interns and residents, and fellows.
• Participate in Process Improvement/Quality Assurance projects and other administrative duties as assigned, including Section meetings.
• Provide expert consultation and treatment to patients in all clinical settings.
• Obtain medical histories, conduct physical examinations, recommend, order and evaluate appropriate laboratory testing, and plan and prescribe treatment for patients.
• Coordinate medical management and care within their discipline with Primary Care providers and other Medical/Surgical services and personnel in a multidisciplinary health care delivery system.
• Provide on-call services as assigned, usually as part of a rotation with other section physicians.
• Participate in monitoring the quality, safety, and appropriateness of patient care, both at the Section and facility level.
• Perform administrative tasks as assigned, including, but not limited to peer reviews, Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations (OPPE), special projects that help fulfill and/or enhance the mission of the Department of Veterans Affairs as assigned by the Chief of Medicine/Chief of Staff/ELT.
• Participate in the educational programs for section personnel as well as the medical staff.
• Demonstrate ethical conduct and serve as a positive role model to others at all levels of the organization.
• Complete medical records in accordance with Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of the Medical Staff.

Recruitment/Relocation Incentives (Sign-on Bonus): Up to 10% for a 3 year contract

Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment): This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.

Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases

Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)
