Head of Physical AI Software Engineering Compensation: $250,000 – $350,000 base salary + bonus + equity We are working with a leading technology company developing next‑generation AI systems for real‑world applications. As part of its continued growth, the company is seeking a Head of Physical AI Software Engineering to lead the development and productization of advanced AI and autonomy software. This executive‑level role will own the software strategy, architecture, and delivery of production‑grade platforms deployed at scale. You will build and lead high‑performing engineering teams, partner closely with research and algorithm leaders, and drive the transition of cutting‑edge innovations into reliable commercial products. Responsibilities Define and execute the software productization strategy for advanced AI and autonomy technologies. Lead the development of scalable software platforms, frameworks, APIs, and developer tools. Partner with research and algorithm teams to bring innovative technologies into production. Establish software architecture, engineering standards, and development best practices. Build, mentor, and scale high‑performing software engineering teams. Drive excellence across software quality, testing, validation, release management, and deployment. Ensure deployed software is reliable, observable, maintainable, and secure. Collaborate closely with product, systems, hardware, and customer‑facing teams. Represent software strategy and execution with executive leadership and key stakeholders. Requirements Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Robotics, Engineering, or a related field. 10+ years of experience building and shipping complex software systems within robotics, autonomy, AI, or related domains. Proven experience leading and scaling software engineering organisations. Strong expertise in software architecture, distributed systems, and real‑time applications. Track record of delivering production software to customers and supporting field deployments. Deep understanding of software quality, reliability, testing, and operational excellence. Ability to balance hands‑on technical leadership with strategic organisational responsibilities. Preferred Experience Robotics, autonomous systems, computer vision, machine learning, or perception technologies. Commercial software platforms, SDKs, or developer‑facing products. Cloud‑connected infrastructure, telemetry, fleet operations, or large‑scale deployment environments. Successfully scaling products from research and development through to commercial deployment.
