Our rapidly growing Industrial Engineering team, which includes process, mechanical, electrical, controls, structural, architectural, geotechnical, and civil disciplines, is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on EPC and design-build delivery of industrial projects in markets such as Food & Beverage, Mineral Processing, Renewable Fuels, Pulp and Paper, Steel & Aluminum, Industrial Buildings, and Industrial Energy, Water and Utilities. 

Location

This position is based out of Lenexa, Kansas or Lone Tree, Colorado office and we offer relocation assistance. Some consideration may be made for Stellar candidates (more senior PLC Programmers - 8+ years with applicable industrial experience) in other Kiewit office locations in the US, near other major Kiewit offices.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

Lead Engineering & Design

• Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria using independent judgment.
• Advise Kiewit project teams and clients on the appropriate type of Control System for water processes and/or other industrial applications.
• Develop company and maintain company programming standards.
• Understand and meet client requirements for electrical and mechanical needs. 

Drive Technical Execution

• Write PLC programs using IEC 61131 standard programming languages, with an emphasis on Ladder Diagram, Function Block Diagram, Sequential Function Chart, and Structured Text.
• Design HMI/SCADA graphic screens based on mechanical P&IDs or PFDs.
• Test Control System programs using simulation code
• Have a working knowledge of industry standards and regulations (e.g., ISA, IEEE).

Support Construction & Commissioning

• Prepare manuals to instruct users how to operate the Control System.
• Troubleshoot Control System and Network system faults. 
• Supervise the installation of Control System programs by performing an IO Checkout and commissioning all the systems in the program.
• Provide support and guidance to Commissioning, Operations, and Maintenance. 
• Provide end user Control System training to Plant Management, Operators, and Technicians. 

Collaborate & Innovate

• Coordinate with Kiewit Engineering team and end user. 
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, ensuring adherence to departmental design standards, applicable engineering codes, and Kiewit guidelines, and provide recommendations as necessary.
• Collaborate on large water and/or industrial project teams, including in-house multi-discipline engineers and construction superintendents, to deliver the industry's best in both engineering and physical design to our Clients.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and software design principles.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience working on multidisciplinary projects in the Industrial market as a PLC Programmer.
• Experience with Rockwell Studio 5000 and FactoryTalk ME/SE
• Extensive understanding of PLC programming languages such as Ladder Diagram, Function Block Diagram, Sequential Function Chart, and Structured Text.
• Experience designing, configuring, and troubleshooting OT controls networks with a strong understanding of network security. Preferred experience with Cisco, and Rockwell Stratix Switches.
• Experience designing, configuring, and troubleshooting OT server environment. Preferred experience with virtual servers managed via VMWare vSphere.
• Experience programming and commissioning VFDs and Smart MCCs.
• Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD), and Bluebeam software.
• Exceptional oral and written English communication skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time as and when required.
• Ability to solve complex problems.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.

Preferred Experience

• A Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields of Engineering, such as Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited university, is preferred. Relevant Associate level technical degrees will also be considered.
• Rockwell PlantPAx
• Ignition (Vision and Perspective)
• Field construction or startup (Water, Power, or Oil & Gas plant) experience, and prior experience directing junior engineers is preferred.
