The Paralegal provides support to attorneys in the Insurance & Reinsurance Litigation practice group and is responsible for preparing legal documents, conducting factual and legal research, managing case files, and coordinating client and third-party communications under attorney supervision. The role involves litigation matters arising from insurance and reinsurance relationships, and the Paralegal will develop and apply subject-matter knowledge specific to this practice area. The Paralegal plays a key role in delivering high-quality legal services while maintaining high standards of professionalism, accuracy, and confidentiality. There is an annual billable hour's requirement for this role.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Draft, proofread, and revise legal documents, correspondence, pleadings, motions, briefs, and agreements under attorney direction.
  
• Conduct factual and legal research using online databases including Westlaw and LexisNexis, and summarize findings for attorney review.
  
• Perform fact and cite-checking of large briefs in accordance with applicable sources, including Bluebook citation standards, under tight deadlines.
  
• Organize and maintain physical and electronic case files, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and accessibility.
  
• Assist with all phases of the discovery process, including document collection, review, organization, and production.
  
• Prepare and file documents with federal, state, and local courts, including e-filing where applicable.
  
• Monitor deadlines and maintain case calendars; coordinating with attorneys to ensure timely completion of tasks and deliverables.
  
• Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and third parties under attorney supervision, maintaining a professional and responsive standard.
  
• Assist in trial, hearing, and arbitration preparation, including preparation of pretrial disclosures, trial binders, exhibit lists, and witness materials, and provide onsite logistical support.
  
• Coordinate logistics for depositions, mediations, hearings, arbitrations, and other legal proceedings.
  
• Review and summarize, contracts, insurance policies, financial documents, and other case-related materials for attorney use.
  
• Prepare and maintain detailed case chronologies and document indices to support matter management.
  
• Support discovery and case coordination in matters involving multiple parties, including management of confidentiality designations and privilege issues.
  
• Accurately enter and track billable time in the firm's timekeeping system in accordance with firm guidelines.
  
• Manage case coordination from intake through resolution, proactively anticipating attorney and client needs.
  
• Participate in the training and professional development of fellow paralegals on routine practice elements and established workflows.
  
• Provide administrative support, as needed, including scheduling, correspondence, and other operational tasks.
  

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Strong knowledge of legal terminology, procedures, and court rules (federal, state, and local).
  
• Advanced knowledge with online government e-filing systems and electronic court filing procedures.
  
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and legal research Platforms, including Westlaw and LexisNexis.
  
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and professionally.
  
• Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail, with a demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Commitment to delivering high-quality service to both intenal and external clients in a professional and responsive manner.
  
• Demonstrated ability to always maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
  
• Familiarity with document management systems (e.g., iManage) and e-filing platforms.
  
• Self-motivated and results driven, with the ability to work independently with limited supervision in a high-performance, dynamic environment, while appropriately seeking guidance on complex matters.
  
• Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team, promoting consistent and efficient workflow processes across hybrid and in-office settings.
  
• Ability to quickly learn and apply practice-area-specific terminology, document types, and workflows.
  

Required Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, Political Science, or a related field.
  

Preferred Education:

• N/A
  

Certification(s):

• Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program highly preferred.
  
• Certified Paralegal (CP) designation through NALA or equivalent certification is beneficial.
  

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum eight (8) years of progressive litigation experience in a law firm or corporate legal department.
  
• Interest in, or willingness to develop expertise in, insurance and reinsurance litigation subject matter.
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Deep, well-rounded experience across the litigation lifecycle, including discovery, motion practice, trial or arbitration preparation, and case resolution.
  
• Proficiency with e-discovery tools and platforms, including but not limited to Relativity and Concordance.
  
• Proven ability to support multiple attorneys simultaneously in a fast-paced, high-volume practice.
  
• Prior experience with insurance coverage litigation, bad-faith litigation, reinsurance disputes, or familiarity with common insurance products such as CGL, D&O, E&O, professional liability, or property/casualty policies.
  
• Working familiarity with insurance and reinsurance documentation, such as policies, endorsements, binders, claims files, and coverage correspondence.
  
• Demonstrated ability to independently draft and review legal documents with minimal supervision.

Hiring Salary Range:

$135,000.00 - $155,000.00
