Job Title

Registered Nurse (RN) – Telemetry / Cardio Thoracic

Location

Peoria, IL

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | Day Shift | 12-Hour Shifts (0700–1930)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 70-bed Cardio Thoracic unit managing diagnoses including MI, CHF, atrial fibrillation, COPD, pacemaker/AICD placement, lung surgeries with chest tubes, and esophagectomy cases
• Perform continuous EKG interpretation and collaborate with monitor technicians using Philips telemetry monitoring systems
• Titrate drips including Cardizem and heparin in accordance with unit protocols
• Manage patients with respiratory support equipment including CPAP, BiPAP (home regimen), and heated high-flow oxygen in applicable circumstances
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4–5 on day shift, working alongside Patient Care Technicians and under 24/7 charge nurse and house supervisor coverage
• Float to other general medical units as needed and participate in rotating weekend and holiday scheduling

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in Illinois or confirmed application in progress
• Current BLS certification
• Proficiency in EKG interpretation and rhythm strip reading
• Experience with medication titration and drip management
• Demonstrated competency in all basic nursing skills applicable to an acute care setting
• Ability to pass a drug screen; must comply with drug-free campus policy

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Current ACLS certification (recommended)
• Prior experience in a telemetry, cardio thoracic, or cardiac step-down unit
• Familiarity with chest tube management and post-surgical thoracic patient care
