Job Summary


Our client is seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Assistant to join their team. The primary responsibilities include assisting with patient care, preparing for and assisting in medical procedures, and ensuring smooth administrative operations within a healthcare setting.


Key Responsibilities

• Room patients and obtain vital signs, medical histories, medication lists, and chief complaints.
• Prepare patients for urologic examinations and in-office procedures.
• Assist physicians with procedures such as cystoscopies, vasectomies, prostate biopsies, catheter insertions and removals, bladder instillations, uroflowmetry, and post-void residual bladder scans.
• Perform point-of-care testing, urine specimen collection, urinalysis, and specimen preparation for laboratory testing.
• Administer medications and injections as directed by the provider and within the scope of practice.
• Educate patients on treatment plans, medications, catheter care, post-procedure instructions, and follow-up appointments.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Clean, disinfect, and stock examination and procedure rooms according to infection control standards.
• Monitor and maintain medical supplies and equipment.
• Schedule patient appointments, procedures, and diagnostic testing.
• Process prescription refill requests and prior authorizations.
• Communicate with pharmacies, laboratories, imaging centers, and other healthcare providers.
• Answer patient phone calls and respond to portal messages professionally and promptly.
• Verify patient information and assist with referrals and insurance documentation.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and all applicable healthcare regulations.

Qualifications

• Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.
• Previous experience in a medical office required; urology or surgical specialty experience preferred.
• Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
• Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, infection control practices, and patient confidentiality requirements.

Additional Requirements


Monday to Thursday from 8 am to 5 pm (Monday could extend to 6 pm); flexibility to work 8:30 am to 6 pm as needed. Friday from 7 am to 3:30 pm.
