Job Details Location: THE LUTHERAN VILLAGE AT MILLERS GRANT INC - ELLICOTT CITY, MD 21042. Salary Range: $50,440.00 - $60,000.00. About the Position Full‑Time Dining Room Manager – Monday‑Friday, 11am‑7pm (weekend shifts may be required). The Dining Room Manager oversees the daily operations of the dining areas, ensuring a high standard of service, efficiency, and resident satisfaction. The role also involves supervising, training, and supporting dining staff while coordinating special events and ensuring a welcoming, well‑managed dining experience. Responsibilities Manages dining rooms and Dining Room Supervisor to ensure all meals are served in accordance with food safety standards while maintaining the highest level of customer service. Ensures standards are adhered to regarding staff uniforms, presentation, and behaviors. Schedules appropriate servers and DSA’s for various positions. Responsible for hiring of server and DSA staff. Meet with clients to plan the menus, set‑up and breakdown, scheduling of event timeline and staff for all catering functions. Support executive chef on menu creations for catering and resident events. Conducts weekly catering meetings with the interdisciplinary team to communicate event needs. Supports the training of servers of proper serving techniques using 5‑star guidelines. Conducts team member performance evaluations and performance management for direct reports includes team member counseling and progressive discipline. Engages with customers to ensure satisfaction in areas such as quality, service, and problem solution. Responsible for keeping all work areas and cooking equipment clean and orderly. Provides culinary support for other dining functions as requested. Ensures that all HACCP documentation is completed accurately in a timely manner, including temp logs, hot/cold hold and refrigeration/freezer logs. Attends all training in‑services and classes as required. Maintains compliance in all LVMG policies and practices including, but not limited to, Code of Integrity Corporate Compliance Guidelines, HIPAA regulations, resident rights, and confidentiality. Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and procedures (HACCP, ServSafe, Safety Procedures). Qualifications Education | Experience High school diploma or equivalent. Certification or degree in Hospitality Management or a related field preferred. Minimum of 2 years of managerial experience in fine dining, hospitality, or senior living environments. Proven experience in planning and executing catering functions is required. Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper food handling practices in compliance with regulatory standards. Understanding of plate presentation and visual standards for high‑quality food preparation and service. Proficient in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and email. ServSafe Certification required; must be obtained within 90 days of hire if not already certified. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Demonstrated discretion, professionalism, and sound judgment in handling sensitive and confidential matters. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively and tactfully with individuals at all levels, including residents, staff, families, external vendors/authorities, and the public. Strong attention to detail in writing, proofreading, managing priorities, and meeting deadlines in a fast‑paced environment. Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment, demonstrating a cooperative, respectful, and compassionate approach to colleagues and resident care. Skilled in the use of standard office equipment and technology. Maintains professionalism, composure, and a positive attitude when managing challenging situations. Physically able to move throughout the workday and lifting items up to 25 pounds using safe handling practices. May be necessary to assist with resident evacuation during emergency situations.
