Special Procedure Technologist Provides support for radiologists during diagnostic and therapeutic interventional and peripheral vascular procedures in both the imaging department and operating rooms. Acts as a technical resource, performing scrub assistance, equipment preparation, patient positioning, and meticulous record keeping while ensuring radiation safety, sterile technique, and patient care. Responsibilities Organizes, plans, and directs activities related to patients and procedures in the designated area when assigned by the Interventional Lead. Assists physicians with invasive procedures, including scrubbing in on the procedure. Prepares and positions patients, obtains scout radiographs, sets up procedure trays, and demonstrates correct anatomic positioning and marker use. Adjusts technical factors based on patient age and body part, minimizing radiation exposure. Serves pediatric through geriatric patients, ensuring age-appropriate imaging protocols. Provides radiation protection to patients, staff, and self in accordance with safety standards. Practices sterile technique, preventing cross-contamination of patients and instruments. Records patient information, completes all required paperwork, and assists in maintaining files. Performs billing functions accurately and timely. Prepares examinations for interpretation by radiologists and maintains a clean, well-stocked procedure environment. Assists with ordering and stocking of departmental supplies and equipment. Participates in after‑hours standby and call‑back duties, using a pager as required. Performs additional duties such as scheduling, transport, and clerical tasks as assigned by leadership. Collaborates with other departments and medical staff, using the chain of command to communicate concerns. Manages work schedules and any necessary changes. Adapts to changing procedures and protocols with a positive attitude. Demonstrates organizational and time‑management skills and performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program. Minimum 2 years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Ability to work effectively with physicians, staff, and patients. Proficient in using specialty equipment (monitoring, fluoroscopy, digital imaging). Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in Angiography or Cardiac Cath. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS). Advanced ARRT certification in Vascular or Cardiac Radiography. Required Licenses & Certifications Certified Radiologic Technologist (CA DPH). Radiologic Technologist Fluoroscopy Permit (CA DPH). Registered Technologist – R.T. (ARRT). Basic Life Support (BLS) – Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association. Fire Life Safety Training (LA City); certification required within 30 days of hire if not held at onboarding. Compensation Hourly rate range: $49.30 – $83.81.
