Pharmacist Duties

Performs professional pharmacist functions in support of outpatient pharmacy operations.

Reviews and verifies prescriptions for accuracy, clinical appropriateness, proper dosage, allergies, drug interactions, contraindications, therapeutic duplication, and other potential medication-related concerns.

Ensures medications are accurately prepared and dispensed and provides patient counseling regarding appropriate medication use.

Identifies and resolves prescription and medication-related problems, including communicating with prescribers when clarification or intervention is required.

Provides drug information to patients and healthcare professionals.

Utilizes pharmacy information systems, automated dispensing systems, and pharmacy automation technology to support safe and efficient medication distribution.

Provides professional guidance and oversight to pharmacy technicians in the performance of medication preparation and dispensing activities.

Ensures pharmacy activities are conducted in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, DHA policies, controlled-substance requirements, and established professional standards.
