Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Specialist to manage multi-state sales and use tax compliance and support state and local tax activities. The role will involve tax research, compliance, audits, reporting, and process improvements across multiple business operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Research and interpret multi-state sales and use tax laws and regulations.
• Analyze transactions and prepare use tax accruals.
• Review contracts, invoices, exemption certificates, and supporting documentation.
• Interpret construction contracts and determine appropriate tax treatment.
• Prepare and reconcile sales tax, use tax, payroll tax, and related general ledger accounts.
• Support state and local tax audits and respond to tax notices.
• Provide tax guidance to internal departments and business leaders.
• Analyze large datasets for tax compliance and reporting.
• Support tax technology, automation, and process improvement initiatives.
• Monitor business activities for nexus and support state tax registrations .

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in sales and use tax, state and local tax, payroll tax, or related compliance.
• Strong understanding of multi-state tax regulations.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, and Power Query.
• Experience with ERP systems and large transactional datasets.
• Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively with multiple departments and stakeholders
