Primary ResponsibilitiesIn the role of Highway Engineer, we'll count on you to:Work as a key member of a highway/roadway design team for moderate to large projects, and to work independently onsmaller projects.Prepare or oversee the following roadway/highway design work using local or AASHTO standards: horizontal and verticalalignments, roadway sections, intersection layouts and sight distance determinations, interchange layouts, right-of-wayplans.Assist in the management of larger projects or manage smaller projects including preparation of scopes, budgets, and schedules.Manage the following work elements: day-to-day communication (verbal and written) with the design team and client, support and advisejunior engineers and technical staff, write reports and technical memos, coordinate with subconsultants, keep project onschedule and within budget, and keep client satisfied.Perform other duties as needed.Preferred QualificationsBSCE or related field.5 years of transportation engineering design experience required.Experience working on PennDOT / PTC projects.Experience working on Design-Build projects a plus.Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to work concurrently with multiple design teams, and leadership and management skills.Preference given to local candidates.Keywords: Senior Highway Engineer, Highway Engineer, Highway Engineering, Transportation Engineer, Transportation Engineering, Roadway Engineer, Roadway, Highway, MicroStation, InRoads#LI-EH1QualificationsRequired Qualifications Bachelor's degree Previous experience in all aspects of roadway engineering design Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license. Hands-on experience with Highways and Roads CAD engineering software such as Bentley ConceptStation and Open Roads Designer and/or Autodesk Infraworks and Civil3dMS Office knowledgeExcellent communication and organizational skills Experience should include urban and rural highway interchanges, intersection design, traffic management, transportation planning, site planning, preparation of concept alignments, geometrical layout and CAD base alignment plans An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must What We BelieveHDR is our company.
