Details Level I Trauma Center, Level III NICU, and Primary Stroke Center hospital setting Staff Float Pool MedSurg unit covering multiple specialty areas including Trauma Surgical, Neuroscience, MedSurg/Oncology, Orthopedics, and MS/Ortho/Urology Patient ratios range from 1:4 to 1:6 depending on unit 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a) on a 36-48 hour schedule, 36 standard hours per week Weekend rotation required, either every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month No on-call requirements Floating required to like units/patient locations (MS-MS, MS-ICU task, MS-ER/MS holds, ICU-ICU, ICU-MS task, ICU-ER/ICU holds) EMR is Cerner, with Epic experience considered Uses Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors Telemetry monitored by dedicated tele techs, but RNs required to interpret and confirm strip readings every 4 hours Unit support includes CNAs, HUC/receptionist, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, and hospitalist coverage Scheduling follows a 4-week cycle using Smart Square, no self-scheduling Requirements Active RN license (AL or compact) required BLS and NIHSS certifications required Minimum 18 months of MedSurg and/or ICU experience required Cerner or Epic EMR experience required; Cerner specifically required for candidates with ICU-only experience At least 1 year of trauma/surgical experience required for Trauma Surgical unit assignments Skills may include wound care, chest tubes, NGT, IV starts, trach care, PEG tubes, ostomy care, foley catheters, and drain management depending on unit assignment One professional reference from a charge nurse or above within the past 12 months required for consideration Copies of certifications required for consideration Date of birth (day and month) required for consideration Additional Information Assigned to a home unit on the first day of orientation New-to-facility travelers or returning travelers absent 1 year receive 24 hours of classroom orientation and 24 hours on the unit Holiday coverage expected for one major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy, though specific dates off are not guaranteed prior to arrival Facility maintains blackout dates throughout the year during which time off requests require additional approval Up to 7 days of time off can be pre-approved, excluding blackout dates Any scrub color permitted Free parking available in designated parking deck levels First-time travelers are welcome to apply Former staff members must wait 6 months from their last shift before returning in a travel role Candidates must reside outside a 60-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted American Traveler Job ID P-748927.
