Overview of the Role The Project Lead is responsible for managing and overseeing projects aimed at supporting and improving the lives of individuals in disadvantaged communities. This role involves planning, coordinating, and executing projects that address the specific needs of these communities, with a focus on providing access to resources, services, and opportunities that foster long-term growth and empowerment. The Project Lead will collaborate with community stakeholders, ensure project deliverables are met on time and within budget, and track the impact of initiatives to ensure they align with the organization’s mission and goals. Key Responsibilities: Project Management and Oversight Lead and coordinate all aspects of project implementation, from planning through execution and evaluation, ensuring that timelines, budgets, and goals are met. Develop detailed project plans, including schedules, milestones, and resource allocation, to guide project execution and ensure timely delivery of key activities. Monitor and assess project progress, adjusting plans as needed to stay on track and meet objectives. Lead project meetings and maintain clear, consistent communication with stakeholders, team members, and partners. Community Engagement and Stakeholder Relations Build and maintain strong relationships with community members, local leaders, service providers, and other stakeholders to foster collaboration and promote project goals. Engage and mobilize community members in the project’s initiatives, ensuring that their voices are heard, and needs are addressed throughout the process. Provide ongoing support to the community through outreach, education, and advocacy efforts, ensuring inclusivity and participation from diverse groups within the disadvantaged community. Data Collection, Reporting, and Evaluation Track project performance, collecting data to assess progress and identify areas for improvement. Compile reports on project status, outcomes, and impact, providing regular updates to leadership, funders, and partners. Conduct evaluations of program effectiveness and community impact, using feedback to improve future project planning and implementation. Resource Management Coordinate and oversee the allocation of resources, ensuring that materials, funding, and staff are used efficiently to achieve project goals. Assist in the identification and securing of additional resources, including grants, partnerships, and donations, to support the project’s long‑term sustainability. Problem Solving and Risk Management Identify potential challenges and risks to the project and develop strategies to address and mitigate these issues. Lead efforts to resolve conflicts or concerns that arise within the community or with project partners, maintaining a focus on positive outcomes and collaboration. Training and Capacity Building Provide guidance, training, and capacity‑building opportunities to community members, staff, and volunteers involved in the project. Empower local leaders and participants to take ownership of the project’s success, fostering long‑term sustainability and positive community change. Qualifications: Education A bachelor’s degree in social work, public administration, community development, or a related field is required. A master’s degree or relevant certifications in project management, community development, or social services is a plus. Experience Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in project management, community development, or working with underserved populations. Experience working in or with disadvantaged communities is highly preferred. Proven ability to lead and manage projects from inception to completion, ensuring measurable impact and community engagement. Skills Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse community members and stakeholders. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software. Ability to analyze data, develop reports, and present findings in a clear and actionable format.
