About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Duration: 8 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years preferred License: State or Compact license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Previous charge experience - Patient ratio experience of 2:3 - Experience with charting system Description: Shift options are 3x12 or 4x12 nights. A block schedule is approved. Two years of experience is preferred. Travel experience is also preferred. The patient ratio is 1:2. There are 10 beds in the unit. Certain county residents are not eligible for this position. Skills required include: accessing/managing ports, arterial line management, and assisting with chest tube insertion/removal. Additional skills needed: BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, and care of ventilated patients. Candidates should have experience in central line care/management and managing patients with chronic/acute renal failure. Continuous IV sedation, CVA/acute stroke management, and GI surgery experience are essential. Interpretation of arterial blood gases and management of dysrhythmias are required. Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and IV insulin protocols is necessary. Applicants should be capable of phlebotomy and procedural sedation administration/monitoring. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in ventilator management and titrating cardiac/vasoactive drips. Daily census is 8 patients with typical visits also being 8. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, and social services. Patient age groups served are adults and geriatrics. Compliance with onboarding requirements is mandatory.
