Job Description

Production Supervisor

Brownsville, TX

Overview

The Production Supervisor is responsible for the direct oversight, supervision, training, development, and support of our production and material handling employees. They are also responsible for providing oversight, guidance, support, and indirect supervision for shift maintenance support staff. The production supervision duties are mostly hands-on and direct in nature and require that substantial time be spent on the plant floor working closely and directly with all shift employees. The Production Supervisor is responsible for the safety of employees and visitors, the quality of products, efficient utilization of labor, and operation of equipment, technical problem solving, elimination of waste, and continuous improvement.

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities

• Manage, direct and coordinate all activities related to a production shift to maximize productivity and minimize cost while maintaining quality

• Typically supervises 40 plus employees

• Coordinate with Scheduler to ensure daily production requirements are achieved

• Carry out supervisory responsibilities including interviewing, hiring & training employees

• Planning, assigning & directing work

• Appraising performance

• Rewarding & disciplining employees

• Addressing complaints & resolving problems

• Ensure all production data is gathered and reported correctly on a daily basis

• Support & improve upon Quality initiatives designed to meet plant goals

• Ensures safety programs are implemented effectively, reviewed regularly and revised as necessary

Requirements

• BA/BS degree preferred (business, engineering)

• 2+ years of manufacturing supervisory experience

• Good verbal & interpersonal communication skills

• Ability to work well in group situations

• Ability to deal effectively with conflict in mature & consistent manner

• Good computer skills

• SAP experience preferred

Compensation

A reasonable estimate of the current range is $70,000 - $80,000 + bonus + benefits . The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by job related skills, experience and relevant education or training. At Novolex, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
