Nurse Manager, Advocates for Women's Health Clinic

Responsibilities The Nurse Manager is a professional nurse leader who has 24/7 accountability for a patient care area/department and focuses on safe, effective patient and family‑centered care, customer satisfaction and quality outcomes. The Nurse Manager maintains a financially stable unit, promotes self‑ and staff development with an emphasis on evidence‑based practice and education supported by a Practice Governance framework. The Nurse Manager ensures that the Swanson Theory of Caring and patient/family‑centered care are the foundation for nursing practice and that staff at all levels are involved in allocation of resources, interdisciplinary activities and collaboration. Key Accountabilities Holds self and others accountable for actions and outcomes; creates an environment where professional growth is an expectation; creates an environment for high ethical standards; utilizes evidence‑based practice; ensures nurses are actively involved in decisions that affect their practice; participates in professional organizations. Manages financial resources based on business plans/general accounting principles; develops and implements retention strategies; provides coaching, counseling and mentoring; promotes a safe staff and patient environment; participates in evaluation of technology. Ensures compliance with regulatory agency standards and policies; supports patient safety and a non‑punitive reporting environment; participates in quality improvement process; articulates the link between organization metrics and national quality initiatives/metrics; monitors environment for areas of risk and liability. Communicates effectively; builds trusting collaborative relationships with staff, peers, physicians, other services/disciplines, and community leaders. Fosters an environment that recognizes and values diversity; represents the organization and provides consultation to the community; promotes shared decision making; promotes community involvement. Provides leadership in building loyalty and commitment; serves as a professional role model and mentor; develops a succession plan for their own position; serves as a change agent; adapts leadership style to situational needs.
