Hoover & Strong – Industrial Maintenance Technician I Hoover & Strong (Chesterfield, Virginia) Hoover & Strong is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Technician I to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair machinery and mechanical equipment used throughout its manufacturing operations. This hands‑on role works with hydraulic machinery, electrical equipment, pneumatics, pumps, compressors, motors, and other production systems. The ideal candidate has industrial maintenance experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to diagnose equipment issues in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment while supporting production quality and minimizing downtime. Starting hourly rate of $24, based on experience. 14 days of paid time off (pro‑rated first year). Nine paid holidays. 401(k) eligibility with company profit‑sharing contributions. Skills & Requirements: At least two years of documented industrial maintenance experience or equivalent. Hydraulic and pneumatic knowledge required. Electrical knowledge is an advantage. Experience with equipment maintenance, power tools, and machinery. Knowledge of lockout/tagout (LO/TO) procedures required; certification is an advantage. Ability to use calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments. Ability to adapt quickly to changing projects in a fast‑paced work environment. Dependable, punctual, and positive approach to work. Key Responsibilities: Maintain and repair existing plant equipment. Diagnose machinery problems through observation, testing, and precision measurement. Maintain plumbing, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. Fabricate and repair parts using machine shop equipment. Apply Lean manufacturing principles when managing maintenance resources and supplies. Communicate maintenance information and project status to supervisors and team members. Maintain a clean and safe working environment in accordance with established procedures and regulations. Preventative Maintenance: Complete preventive maintenance on electrical motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machinery. Follow diagrams, manuals, manufacturer instructions, and engineering specifications to identify and resolve malfunctions. Help prevent downtime by training production employees on routine preventive maintenance techniques. Coordinate equipment maintenance with production teams and provide managers with regular project updates. Application Requirements: All applicants must complete the online application.
