PRN Cook

The Cook is responsible for providing nutritious and balanced food for patients, employees, and visitors, ensuring strict safety standards are followed and integrating company values into daily practice. Essential Functions Follow established schedules for cooking, baking, and sanitation. Prepare, cook, season, and serve adequate, attractive, nutritious, and balanced meals, including meats, fish, fowl, vegetables, fruit, soups, salads, desserts, breads, and pastries as specified by the menus. Serve food in accordance with dietary guidelines, checking each tray for accuracy and completeness. Clean and sanitize all food preparation equipment and maintain it in safe and operable condition. Follow procedures for food cooling, hot food holding, and prevention of cross‑contamination. Comply with all local, state, and federal health regulations. Work continuously to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, reduce waste, and collaborate to provide quality, seamless service. Prepare meals according to specified menu and schedule with a minimum of waste. May be required to work during inclement weather and other staffing emergencies. Provide a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff, assessing risks and implementing appropriate precautions. Maintain regular attendance and complete required trainings. Perform other duties as assigned to support overall effectiveness of the organization. Minimum Job Requirements Minimum Education & Experience : High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred; 1 year production experience in a healthcare or commercial food serving operation. Licenses & Certifications : Food Handlers Permit required in AZ, KS, NM, WI. Certified Food Manager or state equivalent required in FL, TX, OH (must be obtained within 30 days of hire). Must be from an approved state‑specific program or ServSafe Food Manager programs. Additional Requirements : Acceptable driving record, current driver’s license, and insurability. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities : Knowledge of patient diets and safe food handling requirements using the Nutritional Care Manual; ability to prepare multiple food items simultaneously; proficiency in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; critical thinking, prioritization, and time‑management skills; ability to adhere to quality, infection prevention, and safety standards; maintain confidentiality; work professionally with colleagues at all levels; effective written and verbal communication. Physical Requirements : Significant standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling throughout the shift; lift up to 50 lbs; manual dexterity to operate equipment and computer keyboard; clear vision and hearing; ability to focus.
