Controller

The Opportunity We're seeking a Controller to serve as our firm's primary accountant and lead our financial operations. This is a hands‑on role for someone who wants full ownership of the accounting function at a well‑established, growing firm — not just a seat in a large finance department. You'll work closely with firm leadership to keep the company's finances accurate, organized, and positioned to support continued growth. Responsibilities What You'll Do Manage day‑to‑day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, billing, and general ledger maintenance Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for firm leadership Oversee project-based accounting and job costing to track profitability across client engagements Manage cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting for the firm Ensure compliance with tax filings, licensing, and regulatory requirements Coordinate with outside CPAs, auditors, and banking partners as needed Maintain and improve internal accounting controls, processes, and systems Support leadership with financial analysis to guide business decisions Manage employee benefits administration and payroll‑related compliance Supervise or coordinate with any additional accounting/admin support staff Qualifications What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA a plus, not required) 5+ years of progressive accounting experience; prior experience as a Controller, Accounting Manager, or Senior Accountant preferred Experience in a professional services environment (e.g., engineering, architecture, consulting, or similar) preferred, particularly with project/job costing Strong working knowledge of accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Deltek, or similar) and Microsoft Excel High degree of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail Ability to work independently and take ownership of the accounting function Strong communication skills and comfort working directly with ownership and leadership Sound judgment and discretion in handling confidential financial information Additional Information About Us We are a well‑established professional services firm based in Ogden, Utah, with a long history of serving clients throughout the region and beyond.
