Schedule:

Normal hours of operation are Sunday-Saturday, 6:00am – 6:00pm. Days and hours vary based on project schedules, locations, workload and client needs. Remote travel and long hours required as needed.

Summary:

Responsible to drive and operate vac trucks and tanker trailers at specified job site locations. Operators must adhere to and maintain strict compliance with corporate/office policies and procedures, established health and safety protocols, and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.

• Drive and operate liquid vacuum equipment.
• Load fluids and offload fluids from vacuum truck/trailer units.
• Drive/transport fluids to and from job sites.
• Monitor and secure all equipment, hoses, and fittings while loading, unloading and en-route.
• Obtain permits for oversize loads.
• Control movement of heavy equipment through narrow openings or confined spaces.
• Select gear such as camlocks, hoses, fittings, hose plugs/caps & straps required to load, offload, transfer or transport fluids as needed.
• Help identify hazardous conditions on the job site.
• Provides leadership and ensures safety training and practices.
• Resolves disputes and helps in solving personnel and operational issues.
• Performs other related duties, as assigned.
• Assist other shop and operations staff as requested.
• Assist others drivers/operators as requested.

Supervisory Responsibilities : None.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function and preferably able to perform other tasks satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. 

• Familiarity with driving industrial trucks and various construction equipment.
• Familiarity with vacuum truck operations
• One year of job related experience.
• Must possess a valid Class A commercial driver license with tanker endorsement.
• Hilcorp Alaska’s Kenai G&I Facility Training
  

Preferred:

• Two years vocational training in trucking or equivalent work experience.
• OSHA 10hr. Training.
• High School Diploma or equivalent
  

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

• Knowledge of load permits and state and federal truck driving regulations.
• Knowledge of fluid transfers to, and from specified vacuum units
• Knowledge of and ability to safely secure loads for transport.
• Some knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions.
• Ability to see and record written data and information.
• Ability to communicate information in writing so others will understand.
• Ability to effectively understand and communicate verbally with others.
• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to work independently with little supervision.
• Ability to ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.
• Ability to perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor.
• Ability to meet delivery and/or project schedule with dependability and consistency.
• Ability to operate a commercial truck.
• Ability to drive construction equipment for axle loading and unloading purposes.
• Knowledge of and ability maintain equipment and follow related procedures.
• Ability to assess and troubleshoot equipment failure.
• Ability to perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor.
• Knowledge of and ability to apply first aid.
• Ability to wear protective clothing

Environmental Conditions & Inherent Hazards:

• Weather Exposure: Work is regularly exposure to inclement weather, including rain, snow, ice, and arctic temperatures is rare.
• Heat: Occasional exposure to hot diesel engines and hoses during equipment lubrication.
• Noise: Moderate to high noise levels from equipment and operations.
• Vibration: Occasional exposure to normal equipment vibration.
• Atmospheric Conditions: Possible exposure to diesel fumes, dust, and other airborne particles.

Hazards:

• Moving Mechanical Parts: Exposure to engine components, drive trains/tracks, and other mechanical parts.
• Electrical: Potential exposure to electric shock from generator sets and other site equipment.
• Work at Heights: Occasionally exposed to situations which require fall protection.
• Radiant Energy: Rarely exposed.
• Fuel & Chemicals: Exposure to diesel fuel, petroleum distillates, and related hazards.
• General Construction Hazards: Must remain aware of potential risks associated with heavy equipment and construction environments.
