Job Description

This role focuses on fabricating and installing commercial wall and roofing panels, including insulated panels, aluminum composite systems, and single-skin metal panels. You will work in a sheet metal fabrication shop that produces custom flashing and metal systems such as gutters, downspouts, drip edge, and coping, and then support their installation on commercial projects.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate and install commercial wall and roofing panels, including insulated, aluminum composite, and single-skin systems.

• Assist in building custom sheet metal components such as flashing, gutters, downspouts, drip edge, and coping in the fabrication shop.

• Interpret and work from blueprints and construction drawings to ensure accurate layout, fabrication, and installation.

• Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for cutting, fastening, and assembling sheet metal components.

• Perform sheet metal installation on commercial job sites, ensuring all work meets quality standards and project specifications.

• Use rivets and other fasteners to assemble and secure sheet metal systems, including accurate riveting and repair work as needed.

• Inspect installed systems and perform basic repairs or adjustments to ensure proper fit, finish, and performance.

• Collaborate with diverse teams on-site and in the shop to complete projects efficiently and safely.

• Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area in both the shop and field environments.

• Adapt to changing tasks, priorities, and schedules to meet project deadlines.

Essential Skills

• Demonstrated experience or strong aptitude in sheet metal installation for commercial wall and roofing applications.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.

• Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools for cutting, fastening, and assembling sheet metal components.

• Capability to perform riveting and other fastening methods accurately and safely.

• Ability to lift 75+ lbs and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the workday.

• Willingness and ability to work various hours and schedules as required by project needs.

• Ability to work effectively as part of diverse teams in both shop and field environments.

• Strong willingness and ability to learn new tasks, techniques, and installation methods.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in construction or metal fabrication environments.

• Familiarity with installing gutters, downspouts, drip edge, coping, and other custom flashing systems.

• Basic repair skills related to sheet metal systems and components.

• Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, precise work.

• Reliable work habits and a strong focus on safety procedures and best practices.

Work Environment

You will work in both a sheet metal fabrication shop and on commercial construction sites. The role is physically active, requires frequent lifting of 75+ lbs, and calls for consistent adherence to safety practices and appropriate workwear suitable for construction and fabrication settings.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wichita, KS.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $14.00 - $16.00/hr.
