Working Supervisor

Guardian Rail, headquartered in Columbus, Ohio is proud to operate one of the nation’s leading freight rail services and transportation companies with a large network of freight and tank car repair facilities, a nationwide network of running repair agents, and a rail services division that operates short line railroads, contract switching and transloading sites. We are currently seeking a Working Supervisor to work alongside our running repair team in Eugene.Summary DescriptionThe Working Supervisor will work alongside and lead the assigned site as they work together towards meeting the financial and operational goals, focusing on safety and quality. This position will ensure optimum utilization, efficiency, and economy of the site operation. The responsibilities will include but are not limited to leading the production team and overseeing overall operations including safety, environmental, quality assurance and control, production, materials, financial goals, training, and customer relations.Duties and ResponsibilitiesManage and oversee all aspects of the daily operations from the standpoint of Safety, Environmental, Quality, and Production.Ensure customer requirements are attained, a safe environment is achieved, and a profit is realized to return value to our shareholdersRecommends measures to improve methods, performance, and quality of product or services, and suggests changes in working conditions to increase efficiencyOversee and coordinate activities of the site production staffEstablishes or adjusts work schedules to meet customer demandPrepare reports and records on the site for management including updating KPI metric in SharePointResponsible for ensuring that the site implements and follows companywide initiatives, policies and practices; interpret and communicate company policies to workers and enforce company policy and practicesEnsure that time cards are entered into Paycom accurately and timely for all employees under their direction including approvals.Ensure safety practices are being adhered to at the location and be involved in actively improving safety culture.In coordination with General Manager and Recruiting, recommends or initiates staffing decisions for the location including hiring, performance management, scheduling and terminations.Utilization of hands-on leadership to facilitate growth among the team, including training new employees.Ensure the crew adhere to FRA/AAR/Guardian quality & operating standards, along with meeting customer requirements.Communicate on a regular basis with General Manager to ensure goals are met.Other projects and duties as assigned.QualificationsPrior experience in the rail industry or a similar heavy industrial work environment2-4 years’ experience in a lead or supervisory roleDemonstrated ability to interact effectively at all levels and in support of customer relationsStrategic thinker with the ability to translate strategies into operational objectives and projectsStrong analytical skills, self-motivated with excellent teamworkGoal oriented and a strong customer service attitudeEffective use of standard office computer technology such as databases, word processing, ERP and reporting systemsGeneral knowledge of railcar repair and train operation procedures and work practicesKnowledge of Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and Association of American Railroads (AAR) regulations and rulesRequired ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasksExcellent verbal communication skillsExcellent listening skillsAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusionsAbility to write clearly and conciselyStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the organization #J-18808-Ljbffr
