Monarch by Fiber Global is our consumer furniture sub-brand, bringing Fiber Global’s material innovation into thoughtfully designed furniture for everyday living.

We are looking for a hands-on Furniture Development Designer to support the development and refinement of new furniture products for Monarch by Fiber Global.

About the Role

The Furniture Development Designer will support furniture and physical product development through strong 3D CAD execution, practical problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration.

You will translate design concepts, sketches, dimensions, references, and product requirements into practical and well-developed 3D CAD solutions. Depending on the project, you may also support prototyping, technical documentation, manufacturing review, and design revisions based on testing or production feedback.

This role works closely with design, engineering, manufacturing, production, and other cross-functional teams to help move product ideas forward.

We are looking for someone who understands not only how a product should look, but also how physical products are constructed, assembled, tested, and manufactured.

This is not primarily a rendering-focused position.

Key Responsibilities

• Translate design concepts, sketches, dimensions, references, and product requirements into detailed 3D CAD models.
• Develop and refine product dimensions, structures, connections, hardware integration, and assembly details.
• Support the preparation of designs for prototyping, testing, and manufacturing review.
• Update and refine CAD models based on design, engineering, manufacturing, production, or testing feedback.
• Assist with technical drawings, dimensions, part information, and other product-development documentation as needed.
• Evaluate design solutions for practical considerations such as fit, assembly, stability, material usage, tolerances, and manufacturability.
• Participate in prototype reviews and physical product evaluation when required.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and production teams as needed to review prototypes, resolve design issues, and support product development.
• Contribute to design-for-manufacturing improvements while maintaining the intended product design.
• Maintain organized CAD files, design revisions, and supporting documentation.
• Support additional product-development and design initiatives based on evolving project and business needs.

Qualifications

• Degree in Industrial Design, Furniture Design, Product Design, Mechanical Design, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Strong proficiency in professional 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, Fusion 360, Creo, or comparable tools .
• Strong 3D modeling skills and ability to translate design intent into practical CAD solutions.
• Understanding of physical product construction and manufacturing.
• Working knowledge of dimensions, tolerances, fit, assembly, and basic mechanical relationships.
• Ability to read and create technical drawings.
• Strong practical problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable working with physical prototypes and manufactured products.
• Ability to receive feedback and revise designs efficiently.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and file management.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across design, engineering, manufacturing, and production teams.

Fusion 360 experience is not required. Candidates with strong transferable CAD skills can be trained on our software and workflow.

Preferred Experience

Furniture experience is preferred but not required.

• Prototype fabrication
• Shop or factory environments
• Design for manufacturing
• Production drawings
• BOM development
• Material optimization or nesting

Rendering experience with KeyShot or similar software is a plus, but it is not a core requirement.

Portfolio Requirements

A portfolio is required for consideration.

We are particularly interested in work that demonstrates how you think through and develop physical products.

• CAD development
• Physical prototypes
• Product construction
• Design iterations
• Technical drawings
• Manufacturing details
• Design-for-manufacturing decisions
• Examples of solving practical product or production challenges

Final renderings are welcome, but renderings alone are not sufficient for this position .

Work Location

This is a fully on-site position in Indiana.

Remote and hybrid arrangements are not available for this role because regular access to physical prototypes, manufacturing resources, and cross-functional production teams is an important part of the position.

Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
