Company Description Road2Home is a community-focused organization dedicated to addressing housing instability by building connections, fostering hope, and supporting individuals in achieving stability. The organization works toward a future in which every community member has access to safe shelter and the social support needed to secure and maintain housing. Road2Home collaborates with local partners, volunteers, and stakeholders to expand resources and opportunities for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness. The work centers on creating practical pathways for individuals to thrive, not only by meeting immediate needs but also by promoting long-term solutions. Role Description This is a volunteer, on-site Board of Directors Member role located in Whatcom County, WA. Board members provide governance, strategic direction, and oversight to support Road2Home’s mission and long-term sustainability. On a regular basis, the Board Member participates in board meetings, reviews and approves budgets, policies, and organizational plans, and evaluates program effectiveness. The role involves collaborating with other board members and staff, supporting fundraising and community outreach efforts, and serving as an ambassador for Road2Home in the local community. Board members are expected to prepare for meetings, engage in committee work as needed, and uphold fiduciary and ethical responsibilities. Qualifications Governance, strategic planning, and decision-making skills suitable for nonprofit board service. Experience or interest in community development, social services, housing, or homelessness advocacy. Financial literacy and ability to review budgets, financial statements, and organizational performance. Effective communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills with diverse stakeholders. Commitment to equity, inclusion, and trauma-informed, person-centered approaches. Previous nonprofit board experience or leadership experience is beneficial but not required.
