Posted: 21-May-26 Location: Fredericksburg, Virginia Type: Full-time Salary: $44,229 The University of Mary Washington, an NCAA Division III institution located in historic and vibrant Fredericksburg, VA, is seeking an Assistant Coach for Men’s Basketball. The Assistant Coach will assist in managing and directing the men’s basketball program by planning, coaching, recruiting, teaching PHYD 403, and completing administrative work assigned by the Head Coach and the Director of Athletics. Work is performed under general supervision of the Head Coach and evaluation is based on assignment completion and results, conducted through the university’s performance evaluation system in accordance with University Policies & Procedures. Required KSAs / Competencies / Qualifications Recruit, coach, and teach highly talented student-athletes. Follow directives and manage assigned tasks responsibly. Scout opponents and analyze game tapes. Adhere to university, Coast to Coast Conference, and NCAA policies. Organize work, prioritize objectives, and exercise independent judgment. Integrate resources, policies, and information to determine procedures and solutions. Maintain effective relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the public. Communicate effectively orally, by phone, in person, and in writing. Respond to emergency situations promptly. Represent the department and university professionally and courteously. Required Experience Playing experience or collegiate team manager. 3+ years of collegiate coaching experience, assistant or head coaching. Recruiting experience. Required Education Completion of an undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university. Additional Considerations Handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Attend seminars, meetings, and professional development opportunities. Knowledge of management methods and provide administrative guidance. Provide direct training and supervision as needed. Experience Apply budgeting and fiscal planning techniques within financial constraints. Run social media sites. Use Synergy Sportsware.
