Job Overview MO-SSM Health St. Louis University Hospital, located at 1201 Grand, is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Abdominal Transplant unit. The role is a full‑time position under a 7 p.m.–7 a.m. rotating night schedule with every third weekend and a holiday requirement. No on‑call requirement. Worker Type & Schedule Regular; full‑time; 36 scheduled weekly hours. Eligibility Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Eligible to practice as determined by the State Board of Nursing. Less than one year of experience as a registered nurse. Job Summary Pre‑licensure graduate of an accredited nursing program who actively participates in the SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital New Graduate Nurse Residency Program. Under the direction of an RN preceptor, provide care to patients within scope of role and professional standards. Responsible for the delivery of age‑appropriate care for assigned patients with a wide variety of medical conditions. Key Responsibilities Perform comprehensive nursing assessment and reassessment, including age‑appropriate admission, transfer, and post‑operative assessments. Accurately document findings and patient progress. Establish, coordinate, and evaluate a plan of care based on assessment data, patient diagnosis, lab results, physician orders, and protocols. Formulate and implement nursing interventions to achieve desired patient outcomes. Collaborate with the healthcare team for daily care coordination and provide clear handoff communication reports. Administer medications, monitor IV fluids and parenteral nutrition, and complete referrals as indicated. Provide and document patient/family education and discharge planning. Clarify and implement physician orders accurately and promptly. Assist physicians with procedures or delegate appropriately. Recognize changes in patient condition, take appropriate nursing actions, and involve family/guardian in care. Incorporate infection control practices into daily care. Perform ongoing evaluation of care effectiveness and modify plans as needed. Provide specialized care to high‑risk patients, including restraints, pain management, and abuse assessment. Adhere to quality and performance standards, attend staff meetings, and participate in committees, shared governance, and unit‑based practice council activities. Supervise and teach students or new staff nurses and serve as a resource for colleagues. Maintain safety and infection control policies, practice standard precautions, and handle hazardous waste properly. Complete all mandatory annual training and maintain licensure and certifications. Qualifications RN licensure in Missouri (or new graduate with licensure obtained within 6 months of graduation). Basic Life Support (BLS) HealthCare Provider certification (or to be obtained within 90 days). NCLEX pass letter (or to be obtained within required time per state). Competence in evidence‑based practice and continuous professional development. Strong communication, teamwork, and documentation skills. Benefits Competitive pay package.
