Organization: Office of the COO Job Summary Vanderbilt Health - Executive Search Team is conducting a national search for a Chief Business Officer, Office of Health Sciences Education (OHSE). Overview of the Office of Health Sciences Education (OHSE) The Office of Health Sciences Education (OHSE) serves as the central hub for educational strategy, administration, and innovation across Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and Vanderbilt Health. OHSE oversees the full continuum of health professions education, including undergraduate medical education (MD program), graduate medical education (GME), physician continuous professional development, and a diverse portfolio of advanced degree and certificate programs in health and medical related fields. With primary locations in Light Hall, Medical Center North, Medical Research Building IV, 2525 West End, and the Eskind Biomedical Library, OHSE supports a broad and dynamic academic community of students, trainees, faculty, and staff. The office manages approximately 166 full‑time employees, in addition to a significant contingent workforce that includes more than 660 allied health visiting students and over 600 interns and observers, reflecting the scale and reach of its educational mission. Organizationally, OHSE is structured into seven divisions: Medical Center Relations (MSR), Aspirnaut, the Center for Experiential Learning and Assessment (CELA), the Office for Continuous Professional Development (OCPD), Graduate Medical Education (GME), the Center for Programs in Allied Health (CPiAH), and OHSE Central Administration. Together, these divisions support 22 distinct programs and more than 170 ACGME‑accredited and other training programs, underscoring OHSE's leadership in workforce development and interprofessional education. OHSE also provides administrative and financial oversight to the Shade Tree Clinic operated by medical directors and 3rd year medical students providing care to the uninsured. OHSE provides a comprehensive suite of support services essential to academic excellence, including education technology and informatics, simulation‑based learning, educator development, student services, and education research resources. Signature programs such as the Program in Human Simulation, Surgical and Anatomical Simulation, Simulation Technologies Program, and the Academy for Excellence in Education demonstrate OHSE's commitment to innovation in teaching and learning. The office also oversees a wide range of allied health training programs, including clinical laboratory sciences, radiology and imaging technologies, medical assisting, surgical technology, respiratory care, and the Nurse Scholars Program, among others.
