Monday – Thursday, 3 hours/day. Responsibilities include preparing food for the school lunch program, cleaning, maintenance, stocking duties, and ensuring high food safety and sanitation standards. Responsibilities Assess and supply items relative to daily scheduled menus, special events and/or activities. Clean and sterilize utensils, machines, and other equipment used during food preparation. Assist with meal planning. Ensure that students are served appropriate portion sizes. Store and handle food in safe ways. Keep records of and reorder stock. Assist in the preparation and/or heating of a variety of foods (salad bars, sandwiches, soups, grain and noodle dishes); wash and prepare foods and vegetables; assemble bag lunches. Maintain Student Nutrition Program compliance with all federal, state, and local guidelines. Follow the collection and recording procedures approved for Point of Sale at the school. Identify reimbursable meals on the serving line. Maintain confidentiality of students receiving free or reduced price meals. Serve food to students and faculty members. Provide food preparation and customer service for reimbursable meal menus, milk sales, and all assigned site functions. Follow prescribed menus and recipes. Maintain high quality food standards with emphasis on foods being appetizing, appealing, and high in nutritive value for the assigned site. Utilize a first-in-first-out (FIFO) inventory management system. Sweep floor, sanitize equipment, stoves, work tables, and perform other duties related to keeping the kitchen and storage rooms sanitized and orderly; sanitize tabletops. Closely monitor the computer at meal times to ensure transaction accuracy. Perform all software procedures, including powering on the computer, turning it on/restarting as requested by technical support, opening foodservice software, logging in, opening till for meal service, ensuring transaction accuracy, posting payments to student accounts, entering cash totals, logging out and closing programs. Maintain and complete required forms and records accurately. Attend and participate in meetings as required. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Ability to read, write, and speak at a level required for successful job performance. Valid Colorado Driver's License. Experience in an institutional food service facility. Ability to maintain order and safety among students in the lunchroom. Familiarity with methods of cleaning, safety, and caring for kitchen equipment. Understanding of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Pyramid for reference during meal planning. Ability to follow recipes, make accurate measurements, and operate food preparation machinery. Must pass Background and Criminal Justice Fingerprint Check. Job Requirements High School/Trade School degree preferred. Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
