RN INPATIENT – All Progressive Care Units (PCU) – Day & Night Shifts - University of New Mexico Hospital – AlbuquerqueWe have immediate RN hiring across our PCU departments. All shifts available! Part Time & Full Time.Apply and we will have a hiring manager contact you within 48 hours to discuss your interests and placement.Receive 17% Weekday Nights, 26% Weekend Nights and 15% Weekend Day shift differentialsCompensation DisclaimerCompensation for this role is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to experience, education, and other business and organizational considerations.Candidates should take the time to read all the elements of this job advert carefully Please make your application promptly.CURRENTLY HIRING:Coronary Care SubacuteTheAdult Inpatient Admission Unit (PAAU)A fast-paced, high-throughput unit that serves as both an Observation Unit and a bridgefor patients transitioning fromtheEmergency Department totheProgressive Care Units. Nurses inthePAAU manage diverse patient populations across multiple specialties in a highly collaborative environment.Adult Oncology Serve patients who are receiving chemotherapy, stem cell transplants, radiation and more. We also participate in research measures aimed at preventing and treating cancer diagnoses. We are New Mexico's only NCI designated Comprehensive Cancer Center and one of only 51 in the United States.Family Medicine Inpatient (3-N) Patient population ranges from End Stage Renal Disease, Liver Failure, Mobility Issues, Surgical and more. We also are the secondary unit for Cystic Fibrosis patients.Gen Med/SAC (4-W) Care for patients with many different conditions and disease processes. Our specialized care population are patients with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension.General Medicine (5-W) Care for patients with many different conditions and disease processes. Our specialized care population are patients with Cystic Fibrosis. We also were the primary COVID unit during the height of the pandemic.General Surgery/Transplant (6-S) Care for primarily pre-op and post-op renal transplant patients as well as some patients needing to be treated for transplant rejection. We also care for surgical oncology, hepatobiliary and general surgery patients.Trauma Subacute (4-E) Patient population consists of primarily trauma patients along with specialties such as chronic pain, complex ENT patients, and everything in between.Orthopedics (3-S)Specialize in patent care who have experienced traumatic, skeletal injury and require surgical intervention to properly heal. Secondary service line is Urology, with a particular focus on providing care for patients who received robot-assisted surgeries.Surgical Specialty Unit (4-S)Service a wide variety of patient populations being cared by services such as General Surgery, Emergency General Surgery, Urology, Plastics and more. We see a lot of patients with surgical drains, complicated wounds, wound VAC's, chest tubes, indwelling urinary catheters, ostomies and the occasional trachNeuroscience (5-S)Serve patients who have experienced stroke, seizures, traumatic brain injuries, spinal injuries, multiple sclerosis and more. We have been designated by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association as a Primary Advanced Stroke Center.JOB SUMMARYWork within the nursing process to provide direct nursing care to assigned patients. Provide clinical leadership for other staff and assume relief charge duties when designated. Serve as a role model to promote a positive work environment and quality patient care. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric age groups. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSEssential and other responsibilities and duties may include but are not limited to the following: PATIENT CARE - Deliver safe direct care to an assigned group of patients as required POLICIES - Work within Hospitals, Nursing division and departmental policies CARE PLAN - Work in collaboration with the healthcare team, implement and document individualized care plans incorporating age specific considerations, including discharge planning and patient/family teaching TESTS AND PROCEDURES - Assist with special tests and procedures, ensure proper consent has been obtained PARTICIPATION - Participate in orientation; upon successful completion of preceptor training assume precepting and evaluation responsibilities of new personnel EMERGENCY MEASURES - Assist with or institute emergency measures for sudden, adverse developments in patients MEDICAL RECORDS - Ensure that patient medical records contain necessary information INQUIRIES - Answer telephones and triage calls as per departmental policy MEDICATION - Administer medication, including IV medication, via the Seven Rights; document and communicate clinical findings ENVIRONMENT - Maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients/families in accordance with Hospitals standards DEVELOPMENT - Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops PATIENT SAFETY 1 - Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols PATIENT SAFETY 2 - Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes PATIENT SAFETY 3 - Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk PATIENT SAFETY 4 - Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner PATIENT SAFETY 5 - Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right" MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION:Nursing program (nationally accredited) graduate CERTIFICATIONS:RN MATRIX - Complete and maintain unit/clinic based required certifications and competencies as listed in the department expectations/and or the unit/clinic education matrix LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in State of New Mexico or as allowed by reciprocal agreement by State of New Mexico CPR Certification for Healthcare/BLS Providers or for Professional Rescuers or must obtain within 30 calendar days of date of position TESTING REQUIREMENTS:Obtain UNMH IV Verification within 6 months of position Tuberculosis testing is completed upon hire and additionally as required PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSPREFERRED EDUCATION:Bachelor's Degree of Science in Nursing PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:Bilingual English/Spanish Bilingual English/Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo PREFERRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:Nationally Certified in area of specialty WORKING CONDITIONSENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:Sig Hazard: Chemicals, bio hazardous materials requiring extensive safety precautions and may require protective equipment PHYSICAL CONDITIONS:Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people. xhyhwjd Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.Sign-On Bonus AvailableRelocation Assistance AvailableevergreenDepartment: Registered Nurse
